First week at uni has been weird. Little sleep, lots of anxiety and misery, feelings for someone I shouldn't have...Couldn't get to sleep tonight so for some reason started working on a TV pilot I thought of a few years ago. Christ.

I was listening to some Natalie Merchant a few days ago and I really like her voice. I don't have any of her albums or Alanis' albums but I got me a few Norah CDs.

I am a huge Natalie Merchant fan from her days as the lead singer of 10,000 Maniacs. I got into that band during the mid-1990s when I was in college and have all their albums. I really like her solo stuff as well. Her album Tigerlilly gets a lot of play from me. Such a great voice and vibe in her music.

EDIT: Her voice is so raw, lovely, and distinctive, and has become so ingrained into my head, that I can be out and about and hear a song and instantly know if is from her, even if I don't recognize the tune.

I find it amusing that she was the lead singer of the band with that name when I might expect a band with that name to have Marilyn Manson as the lead singer

The songs I have in my iTunes are Wonder, Carnival, Jealousy and Kind and Generous.

my Fitbit Iconic battery is really low and it has been like that for a few days. I could go for awhile in between charges but now I have charge every night. Wondering if I have to get a new watch or if the battery can be changed.

did a search on that. from what i found, the screen has to be removed to do that. i'm thinking it's something i'd take to a watch shop or someone with experience in doing something like that.

i'm pretty technical with stuff, but removing a watch face like they show and then removing other parts to get to the battery seems a bit outside of my skill level. but you may be better at that stuff.

My gf found a bump on her ribs on the left side. Got an ultrasound on it today. Waiting results. Hopefully its nothing serious considering she's only 25.

I might not be able to myself. the connectors wear out easily or at least mine does so that would have to be replaced as well. might just get a new watch. can't afford it at the moment though.

No definitive news yet. She's getting MRI today. Doctors don't know what it is yet, which is the reason for more testing. On the bright side it is a very small lump. Only around 1-2cm big.

well, hopefully it's nothing or if it is it was caught in time to have something done.

one of the assistant managers where i work has to go back in for more knee surgery. she had surgery to remove an old steel rod that was put in due to a vehicle accident years ago. after the surgery and rehab, she was having some pain that she shouldn't have been having. she went in for some x-rays and they found out there are a few pieces of metal around her knee and that's what's causing the pain. so she's in pain, walking around, and they can't get her in for surgery for another 2 weeks. and then it's ANOTHER 3-4 weeks off work after that. and she just came back after being off for almost 8 weeks from the previous surgery. she is NOT a happy person, right now. and i don't blame her.

Good news all around. MRI came back clear. Doctors aren't concerned about the mass being cancerous at all. She has a scheduled surgery to remove it on the 19th.

I purchased a $500 computer on Amazon and they shipped it via their own courier system. I've seen how these guys handle packages so I'll be on pins and needles on delivery day.
