Don't worry. Only said it because of someone else's comment:

"Halloween 2" is on par with "Troll 2."

so I said,

Inception is on par with Matrix.

Do I mean it? Prob. But I can't stand the Matrix and enjoy Inception (to a point), so don't worry.

And to be a real smart a$$ like most of you that quote me back are, H2 wasn't my "FAV" film of last year, it was "one". Inception is on par with Matrix.
Liking Rob Zombie is not punk. He showed some promise with "The Devils Rejects." However, saying "Halloween 2", a universally despised film that is pure junk (my opinion - but an opinion also held by most critics and a large majority of the public), and is the complete opposite of most of the films discussed in this Criterion thread, is "one" of your favorite movies of last year is a contrarian statement.

But I'm not in the same boat, I don't go looking to get people all riled up by bashing movies they like. The only reason I posted after your comments is because its frustrating how you always take up a bunch of space on the board with negative comments that are intended to piss people off.

I see once again you came out with an unprovoked comment bashing Wes Anderson. Your Wes Anderson schtick is old. Like I said before, I enjoy reading your comments when they tend to be more positive or discuss the actual positive and negative aspects of a film. Can you post more of that stuff please?

2. Fantastic Mr. Fox and Bottle Rocket

Dont know why his films get so much love from Criterion though. Maybe one day i'll figure it out. Gotta see The Darjeeling Limited and Royal Tenenbaums.

If i like those i'll check out Rushmore.

Chill with my Wes Anderson comment. Alot of people were harsh on that dude who made the Charade comment and he made a funny post that I thought went good with Wes Anderson, since he is now the go-to joke for that said comment. Everyone knows I'm not a big fan of Anderson. Doesn't mean I can't joke around like pretty much every other person on this board does.

Also, you said who am I to say what is good or not, then you went on and said Halloween 2 is crap because you and critics said so. Am I missing something? Am I suppose to like Inception and hate Halloween 2 even though I don't feel that way, just so everyone can be happy? I'll stop "bashing" people on their movie taste, even though I was "bashing" Inception on the comparison to Last Yeat at Marienbad, so no personal bashing. Some dude did call me an idiot though, but that doesn't matter, because it wasn't me that said it.

I wouldn't say that. You have to love everything Criterion puts out around here. Well besides Godard. It's okay to crap on his name.

But since I am knee deep in my opinions here, doesn't hurt to say, I agree with you 100%.

Well, I won't call you an idiot. I still think you post some pretty good comments. And you're a fellow Buster Keaton fan - so I can't be too mad at you.

not here to defend CG, but I'll gladly defend Halloween 2. It's far from perfect, but aside from some awful dialogue and the needless Loomis storyline, i think it's got some pretty impressive moments. dare i say even some slight arty-ness that i didn't expect, but was gladly impressed by. also, in my opinion, "Devil's Rejects" does far more than show promise. It find it to be quite compelling and effecting.

Unlike CG, however, i do think "Inception" was quite good. I love that it can work on a truly face value level, but, regardless of what others may think, does have some layers of depth there for those that are willing/wanting to find them.

Cool. Another H2 fan. It did take 2 times for me to truely like it though, and then I went and bought the blu-ray. I read a review before on it that compared scenes to Georges Méliès, which is big big big praise. Comparing your film to a guy who pretty much created filmmaking in a story telling sense.

I must admit though, H2 is my Malick film (in which, I mean cinematography is what sold me). If you just look at random screenshots of the avant-garde type things he put in the film, it is very much like a Méliès short. Call me snob or what have you, but I like it. So what. And what's funny is the reason everyone hates it (not a "real" Michael Myers Halloween and the White Horse story), is the reason I like it. I say those scenes are José Mojica Marins/Coffin Joe meets Méliès.

Agreed. Looking for attention on the internet isn't punk rawk. Also, anytime someone says, "I am not a _____!" it becomes less true the more times they say it.

i completely agree with you. The "White Horse" story had this amazing surrealness to it. And the cinematography, especially in those wide, "Michael walking in the woods in the daytime" shots were just incredible. all two of us will just have to love H2 together.

Awesome dude. I can't believe someone else on here likes it the same way I do. Others on here that I find defending this film with are just horror fans.

I hope Zombie shoots his new film "Lords of Salem" in 16mm too. He has total 100% control over the whole project, so I can't wait. I can just see White Zombie-type music video and House of 1000 Corpses type mayhem all over it.

I didn't receive it today, even though the estimated date was the 10th. Probably tomorrow. But I've seen several other Godard films and I love his work, which is why I finally decided to get Vivre Sa Vie.
