The Bond movies were downgraded for less than 2 weeks. When they returned to 4K they included Dolby Vision, so they were in fact upgraded from the versions you purchased.

Movies leave the iTunes store from time to time and reappear later. As long as they don't leave your library I'm not sure what the issue is.

You're entitled to your opinion. I'm not getting into a debate about quality, just stating the facts.

I ran a load of tests of iTunes 4K vs disk 4K and obviously the disk came out on top but the video quality wasn't night and day. Vincent a professional calibrator on YoyTube goes into great detail and comes to the same conclusions. So 4K streaming quality is far from crappy. Sound, on the other hand, is a different matter. A huge drop off in quality for streaming sound vs disk for HD sound but does Joe Bloggs on the street give a crap about sound?

Which means for two weeks you didn't have access to that 4K version. Two hours, two weeks? It’s still not right.

Most of the time when iTunes updates a title it does not down grade first.

I think anything over a full business day is not acceptable.

The bright side to my issues and concerns about iTunes is I started buying UHD BD and I love it so that was quite a silver lining.

Audiophiles will care (I include myself in this) about inferior sound but I doubt the general public will have anything more than stereo and fewer still will have a sound bar and subwoofer so sound would be a non issue (like not caring about HD if you only have a DVD player and SD TV).

It's a shame, because they are missing out on a truly immersing experience. Sound is as important as video if presented right.

For me there are only two kinds of video feeds: crappy and not crappy. Even not all discs can be considered not crappy as many of them are crappy. So anything with compression artifacts that I can easily detect is considered as crappy. Add the sound of ALL streaming being crappy.

I don’t care what Vincent wants to post. I’ve been doing AV calibration professionally for 25 years, I know what I see as I am trained to see them.

You obviously want the closest fidelity to the source material. I'm the same, I just don't consider 4k streaming to be crappy. For my favorites I will always go for disk but for many movies I am willing to stream. It's the future. If movie studios release a movie on 4k streaming but not 4k disk and I only have the Blu-ray I'm going to buy the 4k stream because (IMHO) HDR/Dolby Vision trumps 1080p disk even though the disk will have superior sound.

I'll take the upsampled Blu Ray with better sound over the 4K stream.

I am so glad I can still hear well.

Also the video is more reliable than streaming which can vary resulting in potato vision. Now my kids are home doing online learning and my discs won't make their online classes break up.

Each to their own, but for me, visuals trumps sound and HDR 10/Dolby Vision (brighter more vivid colours) trumps normal visuals.

As long as video is pretty good then Joe Bloggs will be happy. We have posted the number of traditional cable, satellite, streaming pay TV (SVOD) and AVOD in this thread several times. Some more proof here. I have been in homes where people were watching 24 or 25 fps content and were happy as larks. None seem to notice the reoccurring frame jumps. 24 I can understand but 25 looks like stop action animation to me but most just do not notice.

We have and will continue to watch a lot streaming (with original frame rate) but when it comes to serious movie watching then we load up a disc.

Same. It is weird that the general audience don't care about sound. Jurassic Park, for example, in stereo rather than a minimum of 5.1 is a totally different viewing experience.

The general audience does not have the equipment to hear a difference in sound.

System Audio Aura 30 Towers really? Thats the basis of your stereo pair for the Home theater, no wonder your complaining about audio quality of streaming? Hope your listing is incorrect.
