I actually prefer a mixture of both cuts. Of course the additional boobage is nice, but there are some scenes in the director's cut that kill the pacing. As you said, the extended battle sequences are unneeded in some cases. I also wish that Achilles' fight with Boagrius had been longer than 10 seconds.

The only additional in the last extended version I didnt like was the one where Conan and Subati wax philosophical. I do prefer the original cut however. I guess the main reason they dont contain both is they dont want to increae the disk size from 25 to 50.

Really hope the theatrical is on there, all these new cuts of things are so cheap and gimmicky.

IMO the ending in the International cut of CTB is nowhere near as epic as the ending in the US cut.

Got this from Wikipedia.

The original UK VHS release featured a shortened ending which did not show the Princess in the final scenes as Conan re-entered the Mountain Of Power to slay Thulsa Doom. Only on its first DVD release did it feature the 'restored' ending seen in today's releases.

I've got that one on VHS. Would be nice if they could include both on the blu-ray.

What is wrong with the Extended Cut of Troy? It adds a nude scene of Diane Kruger for crying out loud.
IIRC they changed the score of the film including the epic song used for the Troy Vs. Hector fight. That was my only gripe with the film really.

Yea, because how the cover looks, is way more important than what is on the Blu-ray Disc.

If you have a poor cover, it will give people who have never seen the film before the impression that is a poor film. That's not a good way to present your film.

Speaking of all this Conan talk, I remember The Adventurer and I must admit:

Its amazing how they took a Rated R film, turned into a toned down / censored show for the kids, and were still able to make it badass!

Fun fact: Kirk Thorton, who voiced Conan, also did the voice of Guile for the Street Fighter II anime movie and II V series.

Conan the Barbarian = DAY ONE BUY for me! Really looking forward to seeing this classic film upgraded with sharper visuals and a 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio!!! Plus and extended cut! Sign me up! This film is long over due for some TLC!

I'll probably hold off on Conan the Destroyer though... I might rent it... but I remember it being overly cheesy and disappointing.

Agent,
Great post! I wouldn't mind seeing that cartoon series make it's way on to BD...although that is probably a longshot at best! Good stuff though!

That reminds me of the Rambo cartoon. Rambo: The Force of Freedom!

Season 1 is coming out on DVD for the first time pretty soon from Shout! Factory.

I don't think you'll see many animated series prior to the 00's on Blu-Ray since they were pretty much all animated for SD broadcast. Only video masters exist for the majority of them, unfortunately.

Thanks for the heads up! I may have to pick that up, when it's released.
A shame about the lack of older animated shows, most likely, not making it to blu-ray. Oh well, one can always hope!

Why Red Sonja? Why not any other random Arnold movie?
