Personally, I wish Grindhouse Releasing would offer a single disc release, at a reduced price. I'm not really interested in the extra stuff.
It would be nice if it was a little cheaper, but you get the beautiful soundtrack. It's an amazing score that you can play anywhere at anytime. It gets a lot of play in my car on family trips.

A valid point, but your argument was about empathy, and empathy is not absolute. If empathy was absolute we would not be able to eat meat, and in fact we would never have survived and prospered as a species, because we would not have been able to kill for food or to protect our tribe from other tribes.

There are all kinds of mitigating factors to empathy, and watching a movie does not say anything about the viewer's ability to feel it or not. The mere fact that it is a movie and therefore mediated is a mitigating factor, because it makes things feel 'less real'. So may the facts that these killings took place 35 years ago and the animals were eaten afterwards be.

I find it rather amusing that this movie always seems to rattle people's nerves - especially since violence towards animals always have been a problem in American movies and continues to be to this day. I mean, you never see anyone in here get all riled up about the horses maimed and killed in John Ford's 'Stagecoach' or the buffalos that were slaughtered onscreen in Coppola's 'Apocalypse Now'... hell, a horse was even killed in Spielberg's 'War Horse', and he still managed to get the 'No animals were harmed in this movie' sign of approval. Hypocrisy? I think so.

I will be adding the Blu-ray to my collection along with my Cannibal Holocaust 25th Anniversary Limited Edition DVD, and the Ultrabit Limited Edition DVD. I think the film is very well made even up to the musical score. It's funny that the director Ruggero Deodato was in court to prove that nobody was actually killed in the movie. I think it pretty much proves how disturbing this film was back then.

Not that it matters, but that cover art sucks. What matters is that I'll have this in my hands in about 6 weeks, after many years of waiting. Joy.

Yeah, not a huge fan of the artwork either, but it's not going to make me hesitate even one second.

It's a film that pops back into my mind from time-to-time, but not one I necessarily need to re-watch or repeat. Gorgeous music, though; a real contrast, which I suppose is the point.

The cover's okay. Not the best example of its kind but I prefer it to most of the previous C.H. artwork.

A friend showed this to me nearly 10 years ago, when the DVD was first released. I thought it was a terrific movie, but way too disturbing to watch again. Still, I immediately bought the DVD... and NEVER watched it. Just wanted it there, in case I ever decided to revisit.

I sold off my DVD recently to upgrade. I got a decent price for my DVD, so hopefully it'll be a free upgrade (or at least very close). Who knows if I'll ever watch the blu-ray, but I will have it.

I hope they're not using the same type of case they used for the last DVD - I could never get that thing to close properly. Always spent an average of 5 minutes fidgeting around with it trying to get the latches to match up and snap shut.

The only films I have like that (aside from C.H., but then I don't own it) are 'Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer' and a BBC drama called 'Threads'.

I wasn't feeling the cover at first, but it's since grown on me. It's kind of disturbing in its own right. I like it better than some Scream Factory covers.

The clamshell type thing ? It's easy enough to close I don't think they'll be using that for this release though.

Same here, and it looks like this one comes with an embossed slipcover.

Henry certainly ranks among the most disturbing films ever made. I find it more realistic with its violence than CH and a much more disturbing movie overall. Didn't stop me from owning it and watching it a few times, lol. Great flick.

No. That's incorrect.

Faint praise, indeed. I've never been a fan of any of those cartoony Scream Factory covers, and this is very similar. Maybe it's a little better than Scream Factory's? Honestly, almost all these modern artist revisionist artwork sucks, looking more like cheesy comic-book covers instead of horror film artwork, but it won't stop me from buying this one immediately.

It'll have a reversible cover anyways so it wont be that much of an issue.
Looking really forward to picking this up despite how uncomfortable I was the first time I saw it.
