That being said I pre ordered 3 of them and I will flip them for $600.00 each around christmas when no one can find one.

You guys think they will be sold out?

Are we really going off on this tangent? On a blu-ray forum, where members own HUNDREDS of blu rays, of all places? Trust me, to the people who have to make the choice between paying rent or buying Nintendo's newest console, it doesn't matter if the system retails at $349, $299, $249, or $99.

Any who, did people expect Nintendo to give this thing away? The Wii retailed at $249, back in November of 06. Price for the Wii U wasn't going any where but up...

Everyone has a different opinion of what is considered a vacation, but I get the point your trying to make.

As far the US economy I don't think its as bad as everyone tries to make out to be (No jobs, people cant afford things etc etc)

It could've been the same price if the dollar was much stronger.

I never said I would personally have trouble buying the console at $299 or $349. I have a good paying job and have no financial issues for the foreseeable future. Obviously I was referring to Nintendo's core audience for the Wii U, which will likely be almost identical to the average Wii buyer of years past. That crowd can afford a $199 console but it remains to be seen if they'll spend $299 or $349 for a console.

Also, it appears that Wii U games will retail for $59.99 as opposed to the $49.99 standard of Wii games, so there's that too. And I'd imagine to get the full multiplayer experience many kids would want two gamepads, which is asking a lot given they are what, $120+?

I hope not.

Sorry but I have no respect for people who buy consoles to "flip them" to make insane profit. Same reasons why I despise scalpers. The real people who maybe don't have time to sit in a line all day or pre-order 3 at a time miss out and are left disappointed or spending 2 - 5 more then they should because they want to make their kids happy or wife etc.

That probably has more to do with the initial shipments than anything else. If it's like the Wii where Nintendo only shipped a very limited amount to each store then ya, it'll most likely sell out.

Thats cool I understand your point of view. However, pre-sales will last about a week. Its not my fault that someone didn't take the time to put $25.00 down to buy a console. If I didn't pre order them they would still be gone by Christmas leaving that same person without a console. Moral of the story is don't wait till the last minute. Its not like I went to a store and got the last three in the city sitting on a shelf.

I don't see anything wrong at all with re-selling them. Back when the PS3 launched I didn't have a good paying job like I do now so I snagged two of them at launch and flipped one of them. The one I flipped very nearly paid for the one I kept. And in the end my doing that didn't really cost anyone else a PS3 since that console sold poorly from the get go anyway. If some fool wants to pay me almost double the market price I'm cool with it. I did something similar with the 360 launch the prior year.

Got my preorder in earlier on the deluxe bundle at best buy! Several other stores around the area showed unavailable so I'm guessing they're already reaching their allocation? If that is the case I'm curious to know actually how many units these stores are getting? If it's anything like back when the Wii launched and our local BB's exceeded 250 preorders then I gotta say that's pretty impressive since the preorders I noticed have been up for a couple hrs or so

I'd like to have a Wii U, although the only launch title that interests me is Black Ops 2, and I'm probably going to get it on PC instead. My PS3 is dead already, so that does give me some consideration to going for a Wii U. I'm hoping you can use external drives on it like on the PS3.

Actually though, because Bayonetta 2 is coming out exclusively on Wii U really is gonna make me get one. Bayonetta was one of my favorite 7th gen games, just friggin pissed it's going to make me buy one.

I love all the rage coming from the pathetic PS3/360 fanboys over Bayonetta 2.

They cry about how Nintendo has no real games. Well, Nintendo is getting real games on Wii U and now they're are pissed because they can't play it.

The Youtube comments attacking the Wii U exclusive are hilarious. I'm a huge PS3 fan but I'm glad The Wii U is getting some solid 3rd party games.

I'm glad the Wii U is getting Bayonetta 2. While I would have preferred to play it on Xbox, the fact that Nintendo is the publisher shows that they're willing to step up with this console. I've yet to regret buying a Nintendo console. Going by the Wii U's lineup, I doubt that will change.

I'll start laughing when once again, Sony and Microsoft copy Nintendo's idea in their own way. Though technically Sony already did it with the PSP/Vita before since Nintendo did it first with the GBA hooking up to the Gamecube.

Good points by all. I must admit I am a bit worried for Nintendo. This console doesn't seem to be getting a lot of positive buzz anywhere.

Everyone likes the ideas and specs on paper look great, but the actual product they have shown looks like same old Nintendo kiddy land. The hardcore crowd isn't going to jump to it like they want, and the crowd they are going for are playing on facebook/mobile.

I might still buy one myself to see what it's all about and if I don't like it, I will sell at Christmas...

Even though I won't be buying one, I have no doubt Nintendo will sell millions. They been in the game longer than anyone else

I dunno about that... the Wii worked because of the low price and 'get up and move' gimmick.

They are going for hardcore gamers now, with some stiff competition.

The little "Ipad" thing will sell this. Kids/adults love those things and will make this a hot seller IMHO!! Plus it's a new gaming system, people will go nuts over this thing.

I was curious how the market would react to the Wii U release/pricing details and it turns out the market reacted positively. Nintendo stock price is up about 12% for the week to about $15.50. Of course Nintendo stock 5 years ago was over $70 a share, an 80% drop is market value since then.

I do agree about core gamers. IMO Nintendo is paying them/me lip service. If they wanted a more mature image they wouldn't be bringing back nonsense like those ridiculous looking "Mii's" and they wouldn't be giving it a nearly identical name to the Wii.

wow! thanks man. My new question is how the hell did 9 year old me have the equivalent of $400? I must've been dealing paste on the playground or something and forgot about it.
