I also bought it, thinking it was the USA release, the Canadian disc is borderline DVD quality. I immediately found (and made sure this time) the USA disc afterwards and it's a substantial improvement over the Canadian disc.

It was remastered already. It's the 25th anniversary next year, so fingers crossed we get a UHD...

It hasn't had a home video release as far as I'm aware, but I saw the film theatrically in 2017 and it looked loads better than the Blu-ray. They must have given the film a total remaster for the sake of using archival footage in T2.

i doubt it's a complete remaster, they probably just remastered 2/3 scenes.

Also, everybody talking about the uncut version, but i really don't see the point since there is barely 10 seconds of uncensored footage that really don't add anything to the film.

Trust me, it looked great. It wasn't just a couple of scenes that had been remastered.

As for folks wanting to see the film uncut - it's often just the principle, regardless of the content.

But i saw the movie, and they (i think) only showed scenes 3 scenes.
The one with the car and Renton smiling
The one where Renton and Tommy are in the apartment and gives him heroine
The one where Sick Boy finds his dead baby

Unless i'm mistaking or something.
After all, when they did a documentary for Star Trek Deep Space Nine they remastered some footage of the show, but that must have been less than 2 episodes of remastering, same case here, i don't think they did a complete remaster.

Anyway we could try to ask Danny Boyle if they did make a complete one, he's definitely the one who knows the most about it.

So does the JP BD has a transfer similar to the US BD or to the DE BD?

The film has been re-released on blu-ray in Benelux last year. Saw this yesterday in a shop, bought it, and it turns out this new disc is from a new remaster. I've opened a topic in the Benelux sub-forum : https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...2#post20411482

It's also most likely to be same disc in the spanish and italian re-releases:

Went through trouble of importing the AU and UK editions for superior artwork. The AU edition was a pain to find.

I didn't think of checking for screen caps. I think I like the look of the older 2011 Lionsgate transfer better than the 2021 Paramount transfer:

Just to be clear, the Paramount disc shown there isn't the US Paramount disc, it's the remastered Dutch Paramount disc, which is a completely different disc and master.

Do you know how the 2021 U.S. Blu-ray compares to the 2011 U.S. Blu-ray, or to the Dutch 2021 disc?
