It's now up to $13 mil domestic, but not nearly close to what it deserves. Anyone know what the budget was?

I was laughing at myself because I hardly ever cry during movies and it was a random moment but delivered with such emotion that you would cry even though it's the only time this friend is mentioned but you just feel so sorry for the character of Charlie. Similar to when I cried during Frozen when Parker was talking about her dog and how he would starve to death if she didn't make it home. We never see the dog, so we can't sympathize with it, but the way she portrays the dialogue is so heartbreaking.

No. I had tears
[Show spoiler]both times Sam and Charlie were in her bedroom and during the end when Charlie was hospitalized. Oddly enough the first time I saw it I maybe shed two tears and that was just the first time they were in her room. Probably a weird spot to be the only place to make me emotional. I guess it was just really touching. But this time I don't know what happened. I actually cried. Had tears running down my face. And right during the end, before the credits rolled I almost lost it. I felt like I could start sobbing hard but the credits began to roll and the lights came up and I pulled myself together. I didn't want anyone to see me crying. Can't deny that I did a couple of times on the way home too. Nothing was even going on with me personally to make me do so. Was having a great day and everything. And in the end I'm not sure if it was sadness or joy or what that made me cry. Maybe both. Kind of made me think of in the book when Charlie would often say "And then I cried."

Maybe I was just really sad that the movie isn't as big a hit as it deserves to be .

I agree about Frozen. I didn't cry during it, but that was really emotional for me. I'm an animal lover. Made me think about if it were me and it were my dog.

I teared up during the bedroom scenes as well. Probably because I know what it feels like to not tell someone you like them when they most likely like you back because it's probably for the best.

Depending on when the DVD/Blu-ray release date is I really think they should re-expand this film to coincide with Christmas break. Is that crazy? It's such a busy time of year for movie-going with many people taking in more than one film during this span and with young people out of school I can't help but think this would be a good idea. It makes me mad that there's so much untapped potential here. This is especially a good idea if the film can score a couple of Golden Globe nominations. Those will be announced December 13th.

It lost 114 theatres this weekend, so there's only 622 left. Who knows how many will be lost next weekend.

Yeah, it will be losing a good amount of theaters in the next couple of weeks I think. Will only be in a handful by Christmas. That's why I think they should give it another push then. Teenagers and college students will have a lot of free time.

Well if it does get any nominations, that's possible. No Country for Old Men ended up making millions in theaters after awards season, even though it was already on home video!

I remember that happened with Lost in Translation too.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower was down to two showtimes at my theater this week. I figured it was ending for sure after that. But no, that's not the case. It's staying another week and they went back to four showtimes rather than two. So glad Fun Size and Chasing Mavericks flopped and there's only one new opener. I'm seeing this movie again!

If anyone is interested I made a Facebook cover for the movie. Well, I just took a picture, re-sized it, made it black and white, and added text. It's nothing special but I like it. Anyone is welcome to use it.

Yeah, this happened in a lot of Cinemarks. The movie was down to two showtimes per day, alternating with Trouble With the Curve. On Friday, Trouble With the Curve got sent to the dollar theater, but Perks was at four showtimes per day.

Anyway, despite the loss of theaters, the movie is still grossing more than $1 million for the weekend. This is not a "mainstream hit", but clearly, people are spreading the word and getting their friends to see it.

As for seeing it on the big screen versus waiting for the Blu-ray...I recommend not missing this on the big screen. Any good movie deserves to be seen on the big screen, regardless of the number of action sequences it has. I mean, can you imagine "Casablanca" being shown on IMAX?

(And yeah...Taken 2 was garbage.)

Finally saw this last night. Absolutely loved it. Liked it much more than I expected. Wish I saw it with a different group of friends who I know liked it as much as I did.

My theater is keeping it for a sixth week! It's back down to two showtimes, but I'm surprised and delighted it's holding on. Unfortunately it's no doubt going to leave next week with all of the new movies being released, which is really too bad because I think this one would seriously benefit from the holiday. It's a busy movie-going time and there won't be any school.

The hold last weekend was awesome. It dropped below 9%. I'm just wondering how it will hold against Breaking Dawn. You'd think poorly since it's a direct hit to its main audience, but being that they're both from Summit it might actually benefit it.

Last day for my theatre is Thursday.

I wanna go tonight but there's only one showtime today (weird) and it's in an hour.

Then it's back to regular showtimes tomorrow and Thursday, then gone forever.
