Filming a movie is mix of artistic vision and budget contraints so yes, filming in Canada may make sense and your right, nobody would care! But again, that was never the discussion. The original statement was that Bond should go to Canada and Austrailia and my point was (more direct this time); no, he absolutely should not. My previous post makes the point, and I still maintain that your missing the entire ambiance and essence of the Bond universe! I have a list of places I've visited around the world and a list of place I'd still like to go...James Bond should not! And his movies should not be based on some twisted version of a bucket list. In response to; What makes Europe exotic? It's much more than I could possibly explain here so I won't even try. If you haven't spent any significant time there then it would be hard to convince you, but very few would agree with your premis that it isn't. That statement seems to me simply an argument for arguments sake rather than a statement with substance and thought behind it. |

They should bring back Jeffrey Wright's Felix Leiter character in the next film. I really liked the low-key way in which he played him. In the early Bond films, Leiter was over-bearing, probably the Brits' view of Americans and he was played by a different actor (except for David Hedison, who played him twice) in each film and except for the first one, actors who didn't seem to have a career after that (Jack Lord in Dr. No, Cec Linder in Goldfinger, Rik Van Nutter in Thunderball, Norman Burton in Diamonds are Forever, David Hedison in Live and Let Die and License to Kill, John Terry in The Living Daylights). In the original books, Leiter seems to lose one major body part each book. In one of the post-Fleming books, Leiter's daughter plays a big role and has a relationship with Bond. But my guess is that if they ever give Bond a partner, they're going to be Chinese. That's the market that everyone is trying to appeal to and the Chinese now own AMC/Loews theatres. |

What Europe does have is a dedication to preserving old architecture. Unlike many parts of the U.S. and other places, they don't think it's important to tear down every old building and replace it with a giant, ugly, steel and glass skyscraper just because it can make more money and they don't feel the need to redefine every shopping street with chain stores that display ugly plastic signs in primary colors. So there's much beauty in Paris, Barcelona, Rome, parts of London, Vienna, St. Petersburg, etc. that you don't find much of in the U.S. and Canada, although parts of Quebec, New Hampshire, Boston; New York's SoHo, Dumbo, Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope; and many non-urbanized areas of the U.S. are actually quite exotic and beautiful. |

It's disgusting to think that veteran actors like Sir Roger Moore, Eli Wallach, etc. should retire even if they want to keep on working. It may even be a factor in extending their lifespan! |

Looks like there won't be another Bond movie for at least 3 years.

While I'm happy to here they aren't goign to rush things and ensure they get a good quality movie... I'm very dissapointed that there will be nearly 4 years between movies if the next one comes out in 2016.

I'd imagine, with such a gap left for the next one, it will be an important and possibly epic conclusion to Craig's Bond. I reckon they'll really be looking to make it as perfect as possible, hence why they're taking their time and getting it right. All guesswork, though. |
