I agree! Didn't he direct Patriot Games as well? I enjoyed the look and feel of that movie as well.

I don't get exited about a location unless there is something important to it. did people get excited because they filmed Ghost Rider or Wolverine Origins in Australia? no because the location fit the story. that isn't a slam against Australia, just the fact. but if they filmed those movies in say Italy, still wouldn't care as long as it looked right. the location only matters if the look is right. if they want to set the story in some exotic location because of something there(an Opera house, well known landmark, etc), the by all means film there but to film someplace just so you can say you filmed there doesn't mean much.
You took a compelte 180 on the debate and changed it entirely. The debate isn't where should it be filmed, the debate is where should the story take place. To your point...the story is what'simportant.

Filming a movie is mix of artistic vision and budget contraints so yes, filming in Canada may make sense and your right, nobody would care! But again, that was never the discussion. The original statement was that Bond should go to Canada and Austrailia and my point was (more direct this time); no, he absolutely should not.

My previous post makes the point, and I still maintain that your missing the entire ambiance and essence of the Bond universe!

I have a list of places I've visited around the world and a list of place I'd still like to go...James Bond should not! And his movies should not be based on some twisted version of a bucket list.

In response to; What makes Europe exotic? It's much more than I could possibly explain here so I won't even try. If you haven't spent any significant time there then it would be hard to convince you, but very few would agree with your premis that it isn't. That statement seems to me simply an argument for arguments sake rather than a statement with substance and thought behind it.

I hope you're trying to be funny. That's a Bond movie I would definitely NOT bother to see.

They should bring back Jeffrey Wright's Felix Leiter character in the next film. I really liked the low-key way in which he played him.

In the early Bond films, Leiter was over-bearing, probably the Brits' view of Americans and he was played by a different actor (except for David Hedison, who played him twice) in each film and except for the first one, actors who didn't seem to have a career after that (Jack Lord in Dr. No, Cec Linder in Goldfinger, Rik Van Nutter in Thunderball, Norman Burton in Diamonds are Forever, David Hedison in Live and Let Die and License to Kill, John Terry in The Living Daylights). In the original books, Leiter seems to lose one major body part each book. In one of the post-Fleming books, Leiter's daughter plays a big role and has a relationship with Bond.

But my guess is that if they ever give Bond a partner, they're going to be Chinese. That's the market that everyone is trying to appeal to and the Chinese now own AMC/Loews theatres.

In spite of the ugliness and the ordinary in so many places today, every country in the world also has places that are quite beautiful and exotic, even the USA. So in my view, a Bond story could actually take place in almost any country, especially since most Bond stories (at least in the movies) take place in multiple countries.

What Europe does have is a dedication to preserving old architecture. Unlike many parts of the U.S. and other places, they don't think it's important to tear down every old building and replace it with a giant, ugly, steel and glass skyscraper just because it can make more money and they don't feel the need to redefine every shopping street with chain stores that display ugly plastic signs in primary colors. So there's much beauty in Paris, Barcelona, Rome, parts of London, Vienna, St. Petersburg, etc. that you don't find much of in the U.S. and Canada, although parts of Quebec, New Hampshire, Boston; New York's SoHo, Dumbo, Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope; and many non-urbanized areas of the U.S. are actually quite exotic and beautiful.

It's disgusting to think that veteran actors like Sir Roger Moore, Eli Wallach, etc. should retire even if they want to keep on working. It may even be a factor in extending their lifespan!

Looks like there won't be another Bond movie for at least 3 years.

While I'm happy to here they aren't goign to rush things and ensure they get a good quality movie... I'm very dissapointed that there will be nearly 4 years between movies if the next one comes out in 2016.

Since it'll probably take three and a half years I'm guessing we'll see it in November 2016 at the earliest. Danielcraig will be probably around 49 when it comes out then. Isn't he supposed to do at least two more bond films?

There was talk that the next one would be his last. I'm sure he signed on to do 4 Bonds when he began, but could have easily extended that number at any point, so it's all a guessing game really.

I'd imagine, with such a gap left for the next one, it will be an important and possibly epic conclusion to Craig's Bond. I reckon they'll really be looking to make it as perfect as possible, hence why they're taking their time and getting it right.

All guesswork, though.

He is committed to 2 more but MGM wants him for 8 total, that would pass Moore's 7

He signed to two more films before 'Skyfall' came out. No guess work needed. He is contracted for two more films.

3 years seems like such a looooong time. But I guess they really want this next film to live up to Skyfall and its hype.

Love to see that with Fincher at the helm, though my hopes are becoming more distant as time goes on.

The last I heard was that he doesn't actually like being Bond, but he's under contract to do a few more.

I bet he'd like it if his wife Rachel got her wish to be a Bond girl.

Of course I'd like that too ...
