But now I've gone and thrown it all away...

Screw it, I've got to mention how much I liked this show. Definitely something different in today's TV landscape and quite different from anything being put out by Marvel so far (movies and tv).

Sound design, music and editing are exceptional and a big reason this one worked for me. The story is revealed slowly so don't expect to be force fed all the info in the first or second episode.

Most psychedelic Hero TV Series ever made. My mind goes nuts with an episode of Legion.
But i kinda liked it even knowing i didnt understand the majority of stuff that happened or probably didnt actually happen.

I'm about 75% way through the first season here and the show alternates between being very good and being a complete mess. At no point have I felt lost with the plot lines. I just think the show is trying too hard to be edgy that it borderlines on satire.

Somebody earlier in the post said that the show creator was going for an unreliable narrator to propel the show. I just think it makes for a weaker show.

This show could be so much more....

I agree. I was always waiting for something big to happen like that scene in the pool and when they escaped but it kinda went flat. It started strong but at that point i think every viewer was in need for something to happen that anything they did would be good... for about 2 minutes. Then it didnt exploded like other shows...

But the writting is kinda clever. Too much clever...

I would love to see if the writers could even explain the entire show. There is a lot of stuff placed in there that feels like it is for the effect and doesn't have an actual explanation behind it.

Can you give any examples? I think everything was explained. Maybe you missed it?

Also, this series really didn't offer any uniqueness. Basing it around someone with telepathic powers is just trope from the word go.
You might want to lookup the character of Legion who has been around since the 1970s. I knew about him, so some things were not a surprise. Series is very unique in its story telling and cinematography for a TV series.

I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Agreed, I loved the approach they took with this series. One of my favourites from last year.

While the primary story revolves around a mutant who is connected to the X-Men this is nothing like any of those movies, some of which I do enjoy by the way. This show is much more introspective as they delve into the mind of the protagonist.

It currently sits at 90% on RT, 82% at Metacritic and 8.4 at IMDB. This tells me that many people will enjoy this show. Most of my friends who I have recommended this one to are now big fans.

For those who haven't had a chance to catch the first season yet, here are some nice reviews that can help give you an idea of what to expect:

I dig it as well. Did an article on the show's cinematography and VFX last year, and am hoping to find an outlet looking to cover season 2, to justify purchasing that.

I just finished rewatching season 1 on BD, definitely better viewing it over a few days than waiting 8 weeks and after you've seen it once already you can pick up certain things better and notice the links.

My main thing though, Lenny was the SK and all, but why do they talk about her so much in the beginning if she's just in David's head? In episode 1 during group therapy, the doctor taps his ears to seemingly tell Lenny to take off the headphones but then near the end of it they show her sitting right beside a guy with his sweater way up over his face and ears, so was he talking to Lenny or the guy? Then David-as-Sid saw her in the wall and it seemed like Dr. Kissinger did too, and Sid said she thinks she killed his friend when she was Sid-as-David and the D3 guy also said "a girl is dead!" I could see maybe the D3 guy just playing along as a way to get David to open up in the interrogation, but David was out of his body when he saw her in the wall so clearly SOMEBODY was in the wall because at that point, David wasn't sharing space with the SK. So, was Lenny real and in Clockworks but the SK used her face to screw with David and overwrote the Benny memories with Lenny to further a connection to feed on?

If Lenny WAS real and when David goes to his sister's and sees Lenny, that could possibly be an indication of his personality absorption powers but was just overlooked because of all the rest of the show.

The role was originally written for a male actor to play. Which is why Lenny will say things that don't really match her gender i.e. "I don't swing that way, but I'm up for a circle jerk." when prompted by David's sexual emphasis on Lenny willing to do anything.

I think David's comic ability of absorbing personalities was the original intention following the Clockworks incident. But, since Audrey wanted to keep the male lines, it made more sense to have the Shadow King do memory tampering instead.

The showrunner has said numerous times he doesn't plan to stick to the Legion comics. He likes the concept, but doesn't want to be tied to it. I don't believe we'll be seeing David's hundred of competing personalities. Probably 1 or 2 hitchhikers per season at most. He'll most likely continue to personify his psych like with making a "Rational David" with the British accent. Which is "Real David"'s natural mutation.

I'm just having trouble reconciling Lenny only being in his mind with how people clearly saw her in CW lol That's why I was thinking maybe she was real and Sid-as-David killed her and he absorbed her and the Lenny in his sister's basement was really her, but then the SK used her likeness (like with the Angriest Boy) to screw with David so that the Lenny in his brain was different than the Lenny in CW.
