I watched it this afternoon with a friend and we both enjoyed it. I was impressed by the camera work and editing of the film. I've seen some bad do it yourself/shot on video films in the past, where they don't even try to worry about framing or pacing, and just have tons of padding and such and thus are boring/disappointing. So color me surprised that this took off and running right from the beginning and while obviously low budget, lots of heart was put into it, to make it the best it could be, and it shows.
There were even a few genuine laughs in the film that I've never seen before( [Show spoiler] ![]() Great job with the release! I can't wait to dig into the extras. Though I did watch the restoration feature, since I find that behind the scenes stuff fascinating and it was well done. |

So is this the only way to get the movie, period, or is this just the only way to get that version?

Are the scratches cosmetic only or do they affect playback of the disc? And which disc are they on? If you can PM me a pic I'll see what I can do, thanks.

I received my copy of Dead Next Door; what a stacked release along with the bonus bumper sticker, patch, and IndieGoGo supporter letter... very nice!

Decided to check out this release last night and make it the final film for 2015. What a fun release! I checked out the original 4:3 presentation with the original Dubbed Voices audio. I also watched the restoration Feature (Which I loved!), and the rest of the special features. Video quality is pretty great considering it's 8mm source. Some of the SFX are still easily amongst the most original and enjoyable I've seen in any zombie film ever. They're not always the most realistic looking (Practical effects Rule!), but nearly all of them are just so darn fun that you don't care. This is the definitive version of this film. If you are a Horror fan, a Zombie lover, or are looking to build an impressive Horror film collection, you owe it to yourself to pick this up.
While watching this I also came to the realization that if any movie was primed for a bigger budget remake it was this one. Lose the Anna Subplot, Add more to the Cult aspect, Beef up the effects (But Keep them 90% Practical) and make a few minor tweaks here and there to make it more relevant to today and I think you could have a modern zombie film Horror fans would be proud of. As is I think this film still has A LOT to offer Horror fans and the zombie genre even today, and is well worth the investment for new fans and those that wish to revisit this classic. Thanks so much for putting in the work J.R. and for bringing this gem into the HD era! I hope that it does well for you and rewards the time and effort you clearly put into it! |

I keep picking this up to go watch it, and then putting it right back on the shelf because I can't decide which version to watch.
The blu-ray has widescreen and fullscreen versions. I'm guessing fullscreen is the OAR (like the Anchor Bay DVD) and the widescreen is just a matted version of the fullscreen version to fill widescreen TVs? In other words, fullscreen will give you the most image? Also, what's the difference with the 4-minute longer VHS cut on the DVD? Is the additional footage only available by watching this version, or is it included in the Deleted Scenes on the blu-ray disc? My first encounter with the movie was via the Anchor Bay DVD, so I've never seen the VHS cut before. |

The 4:3 version is indeed the original aspect ratio, but the 16:9 is cropped, so you are losing some picture at the top and bottom. However, this was done on a shot-by-shot basis, so in many cases all you're losing is dead space anyway. There's only ever been one true version of the movie… the VHS version is only longer because of the end titles, which were cut down for subsequent releases. All 4 versions are identical in terms of picture content, although very subtle changes were made in a few spots from VHS to DVD to Blu-ray. If you want the newest experience, start with the 16:9 picture and original cast mix audio. Otherwise, 4:3 with classic dubbed mix is most faithful to the original release. :-) |

https://forum.blu-ray.com/member.php?u=10022 I was a backer of the IndieGoGo campaign, and I just wanted to say that you really delivered! I've been a fan of this movie since I first rented it in the 90's, and you went above and beyond on this. I couldn't be happier with this release. One site that I personally frequent for reviews is Mondo-Digital. Not sure if you're familiar with it, but if you're looking to send screeners, it's something you may consider. I can absolutely second this - I have been part of a number of crowdfunding campaigns. Some were handled well, some left a lot to be desired - but the campaign for The Dead Next Door was a perfect example of how one of these campaigns should be handled. And on top of that, the final product is excellent too! Well done, JR!

I absolutely love this film but didn't know anything about this release! Just stumbled across this, it looks amazing!
It says on the site only the first 1000 copies will come with the booklet and will be signed. Any idea if they are all gone? I'm from the UK so this release will cost me $50 in total with shipping so i'm not sure if i should pull the trigger on this, its a lot of money for me ![]() If its signed it would defo sway me |
