Blast me for cancelling my original Amazon order!!!!!

I contacted Base directly this afternoon (having received no reply to my email via Rakuten). The responded quickly to say stock had arrived and the order would be shipped within 24 hours. I then got a dispatch email ten minutes later!

That's interesting - I never thought of that. No reply from them via Rakuten. Did you just quote your Rakuten order number?

Knowing my luck, I will get an Amazon shipping notice at the same time as one from Rakuten

(I ordered a 29p Allen key to get free postage - they'd better not send that first!)

Thanks for contacting us at zavvi.

Please do not reply to us at this e-mail address as we will not receive your message. This is an automated response.

For your records, your original query was:

Hi
My order was due for dispatch on Monday, it's now Wednesday.
Can you please confirm when my order will ship?

Thank you
Wayne

One of our customer services advisors has reviewed your query and we are able to confirm the following:

Hello Wayne,

Thank you for getting in touch to ask about the estimated dispatch of A Touch Of Zen [Blu-ray] .

I am really sorry that this has not yet been dispatched. This item is on special order for you with our supplier but at this time they are unable to give me a date for when they will have it back in stock. In the meantime our buyers are trying to obtain this for you from other suppliers.

You can check the status of your order at any time by logging into your account and following the prompts. Once your order has been sent you will receive an e-mail to tell you it is on its way.

If there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Sam

Watched this today, it's a beautiful restoration of a brilliant (though overlong) classic. Would love to see his later film Fate Of Lee Khan get similar treatment but being a Golden Harvest film (Fortune Star?) i won't hold my breath waiting.

Ordered it from Amazon along with the Joan of Arc steel. The shipping cost made a double order more feasible. Look forward to it!

Glad I checked this thread or I would have missed out...did not know it was limited to only 2k copies. Placed my order with Amazon and I am done. Thread title updated .

Hawks & Sparrows + Pigsty, on the other hand, is a one-off limited edition - Kevin implied it originally was set for a crowd-funding project (e.g. Kickstarter), but he managed to get his way and do a short run of 1500 copies. The reason it won't be reissued after that is because both films are still available on DVD so I imagine they're not particularly strong sellers.

Slightly peeved about that one as I had bought Hawks & Sparrows on DVD a few months ago, despite Kevin hinting that Pasolini would be returning - I thought he meant reissues of the current Dual Format editions (since they were near-OOP) rather than any upgrades of their DVD-only titles. I'm not sure if I want to get it on pre-order - £14 a bit too much for a double-dip - but I hope they keep us updated on stock as I would like to get it before it sells out.
Cheers for the info. I didn't know that the first print of Shane was limited. I best get on that! I remember my Dad saying he loved that one.

Yeah, I've so far watched the original theatrical version and that was on the second disc (i.e. the limited part of the set). Brilliant, brilliant film and one of the best I've seen recently. Also one of the best Westerns I've ever seen, if it can actually be called a Western.

Much like MoC's Touch of Evil, this is the edition of Shane you want to get!

Amazon shipped my Zen so I've sent a message to Base asking to cancel with them. Ironically, with my Allen key the overall cost from Amazon is within pennies of the price it sat at before I cancelled. That'll teach me

Edit: And they're sending the 29p Allen key separately

£19.99 with free delivery over £20. nothing odd about that. in fact, buy some sort of "add on item" to get free postage, then throw it away when it all arrives.

Huh? I'm saying two days ago they had 349 remaining, and since then it's been going up not down.

Received my order from Zavvi this morning.

Slight dent on bottom of slipcase but I don't use those anyways so no biggie.

More annoying is the damage to the booklet (folds on the top and bottom corners). The disc was sealed so this was done at the manufacturing stage.

I was playing the multiple pre-order game, and, due to the close shipping/arrival dates, ended up with two copies. I sent the Amazon one back, as the slipcase was slightly creased, and kept the mint one from Eureka.

Perhaps Kevin can replace your booklet free of charge? He's kind like that, and has already offered to replace booklets for this title that have a printing fault on the Contents and Credits pages.
