"Set not too far into our future, it’s the first ‘Alien’ set on Earth"
Exactly as I predicted. They are going for the lowest common denominator AvP with the focus being american solders. Ugh. I should also mention the only Alien movie available on DMC is...........you guessed it........AvP! Last edited by Deadend45; 11-16-2021 at 10:31 PM. |

Can you blame them the franchise has been a sinking ship, rather than prioritize what needs urgent attention (which would be the concluding the prequel film saga). Now the creators what to do a prequel series mostly likely at best has loose connection previous films. Its almost as if throwing things at the wall seeing what sticks. Of course it's not going to instill much confidence from the audience.

Just make up a checklist of what AvP is and match them to what has been let out.
But hey, It all depends on what a person wants. If a person wants mindless super-action crap then that person will be happy with what has come out and that it is coming from disney cause mindless super-action crap is what disney is all about now. If a person wants something worthy of the artistic heights that Dan O'Bannon, Jean (Mœbius) Giraud and Giger achieved with the first film, then that person will be revolted by what has come out. |

If you can say one thing about Noah Hawley it's not that he makes anything generic.
The premise of Earth's definitely not something that instills confidence. But that's not all the info we have: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=906 "What’s next for me, it looks like, is [an] Alien series for FX, taking on that franchise and those amazing films by Ridley Scott and James Cameron and David Fincher. Those are great monster movies, but they’re not just monster movies. They’re about humanity trapped between our primordial, parasitic past and our artificial intelligence future—and they’re both trying to kill us. Here you have human beings and they can’t go forward and they can’t go back. So I find that really interesting." "On some level it’s also a story about inequality. You know, one of the things that I love about the first movie is how ’70s a movie it is, and how it’s really this blue collar space-trucker world in which Yaphet Kotto and Harry Dean Stanton are basically Waiting for Godot. They’re like Samuel Beckett characters, ordered to go to a place by a faceless nameless corporation." "In mine, you’re also going to see the people who are sending them. So you will see what happens when the inequality we’re struggling with now isn’t resolved. If we as a society can’t figure out how to prop each other up and spread the wealth, then what’s going to happen to us?" -Noah Hawley So definitely not about soldiers lol Last edited by FiendishlyInventive; 11-24-2021 at 12:16 AM. |

I just figured that if a xeno got on Earth, that would be it. So when the AvP movies decided to put the xenos not only on Earth, but also spread them across thousands of years of Earth history even in present day? Somehow I think Ripley overestimated the creatures chances of destroying 'everything' if the Company got a hold of it.
On that note, can we drop the company subplot? I never really bought into it and neither did Dan O'Bannon when he learned that they added the 'evil corporation' bit into the original film. You have Weyland Yutani who have the power and resources to literally build worlds but they're going head over heals for these xenomorphs? I quote Yahtzee, Quote:

Also, screw O'Bannon. If Hill and Giler hadn't improved his script, and the studio hadn't gotten a visionary director who took it seriously, Alien would've been an instantly forgotten B-grade sci-fi. |

Correct and read The Cold Forge, and Into Charybdis to see such stuff done with a deft hand in the Alien setting, in the current year.
I really hope Polly Morgan's onboard as the series cinematographer. ![]() [Show spoiler] I also look forward to a return to the retro futurism of the first three Aliens with the work of Carol Case likely being onboard if history tells us anything. ![]() Last edited by FiendishlyInventive; 11-24-2021 at 02:36 AM. |

The rest vary severely in quality. If you don't care for those, what gives you ANY indication that you'll even like the TV show? TV is always more "lowest common denominator" because it's "free" entertainment |
