I agree, it's a bit much. A little too "emo" for my taste. And it's hard to believe these kids are 14. They look like they are at least 18 and act like they're 12. Especially Jordan.

I could never get into Smallville, despite having a ridiculously strong crush for Kristin Kreuk at the time. I just think the technology/money wasn't there yet to do the subject justice for TV, we have it now. I did see the last 2 seasons but it just seemed so out there.

Thing is, I've enjoyed previous Superman TV shows before but the thing that turns me off is the whole "monster of the week" or "supervillain of the week" type of stories. But, the problem I have with the series is that it feels too "soap opera" for me. I sat through the first two episodes and it's just not for me. I felt that they should have started the "boys" out as maybe six year olds and then grew it from there. It just feels like it's going to be too focused on emo teen drama than a typical Superman series.

I think they're walking a very tight rope on the emotional angst content, trying to not be overboard but still keeping it credible for the characters. I can't think of a moment so far, where the amount of angst felt truly out of place. Hopefully, the writers will stay that way, and focus more on Lois' investigations into Morgan Edge plus Superman's heroics.

Just watched the premiere and thought it was decent enough to give it a chance for a few more episodes. I was really hoping it was completely separate of the Arrowverse to ditch the deadweight that has become so I was bummed to read that it is tied in still.

Just jumping in to the thread to say...
I live in the UK and can't watch this yet. However, I'm hearing some good things about this show. Particularly in terms of the characterisation of Superman. I'm still not sold on the concept of him having two sons and being that it's a CW show, it may well drop in quality but...cautiously interested and optimistic ![]() |

I wouldn't say they're ignoring Crisis, he just has no reason to dwell on it... theoretically all the non-paragons have their old and new set of memories, so it's not like he's missed all those years. Plus COVID has meant it's pretty self contained because they can't get people from different bubbles. The only person who will be part of the Arrowverse is Diggle.
I don't mind the crossovers, but you can tell most of them are just there to be there, they do their normal storylines, then crossover happens with nothing to do with their stories, then they go back to their own like the crossovers didn't really happen to them. |

Watching the new episode now out of boredom, having not seen the previous 3 episodes.
Why do CW shows have such poor lighting now? Everything is so dark. I've noticed Riverdale is like that too. The woman who plays Louis has a weird look in her eyes. She looks like an alien trying to act human. |

Episode just ended. God, what's with the terrible writing on these CW shows? This entire episode was just a lot of boring exposition dialogue in poorly lit locations.
An entire conversation in a bar about "Clark became a better person when he met you." And then later Lois to her dad? everything she said was about how terrible of a father he was. Yay exposition dialogue. Yawn. |

I've enjoyed the show so far; its been an interesting take on the mythos without resorting to pandering or storylines that go nowhere. Hopefully, the quality will remain this high; I'm already looking forward to next week.

I catched up now and I am a bit suprised because the show is pretty entertaining with pretty good CGI compared to the other CW Shows. Seems like Warner finally used some money to produce their CW Shows.
Okay the kids storyline is typical CW Soap but I will keep watching |

So far it's been a really enjoyable show with credible CGI. Looks and feels better than any prior CW series, closer to a production from premium cable.
About the only thing not working at the moment is Lana. Her character doesn't seem nearly as integral as I expected. |

Something I realize this series loves to endorse: Alcohol.
Lois, as well as Clark (I guess he likes the taste, since he can't get drunk), are often shown drinking wine. We've seen this in a few episodes already, including this recent one, where we also see Lana and her husband having a drink with Morgan Edge, and then Lana and Lois out doing shots together, and then, another thing we've seen a couple of times already: underage kids having keggers and house parties, including a kid who is supposedly on medication. I'm certainly no prude, but I think the show would better benefit by not having every other scene revolve around drinking booze of some kind. |

Still liking the show for the most part but I'm not digging Lois and Clark putting a wedge between the boys with their parenting. It really bugged me when Jonathan was telling Clark that he's being benched because of Jordan and then Clark tells him he just needs to step up, I mean really? He should know how hard Jonathan practices. What more can he do to stand out against his brother with superpowers, just felt so tone deaf and just as bad as when he only took Jordan to the fortress. It's like are Lois and Clark really that insensitive or inconsiderate?

This Jordon Kent that got some powers earlier compared to his twin brother has Superhuman strength, durability, and Heat Vision. But he is not as strong as Superman so far. |

That's just the CW for you. Their motto is attractive people drinking alcohol! Their old high school shows like 90210 and Gossip Girl had 16 year-olds chilling in bars all the time. |
