Truck Turner is loads of fun!

Also in reply to whoever mentioned Willie Dynamite being a real surprise, it was for me too. I've watched it a few times now and it's absolutely top tier in the genre, probably top 3 for me! It starts out so much fun but gets unexpectedly deep and heavy, in a good way.
Thank you!! I'm quite familiar with the Trouble Man soundtrack so even if the movie is average I'm sure I'll still enjoy it for the music

Glad to hear Truck Turner is fun. I'll be sure to check that one out real soon

Any fans of Coonskin? Now THAT is a wild film.

Coonskin is another one that was announced by Vinegar Syndrome and never released. Not sure what the reason is.

Not really blaxploitation per se, but a real gem and favorite is:
The Thing With Two Heads.
It's ****ing hilarious! There's a good blu ray from Kino that's worth every penny.

TROUBLE MAN has one of my all time favorite lines of dialog, uttered by the immortal Julius Harris:

"Confusing f u c king world, isn't it, man?"

Can't go wrong with TRUCK TURNER, one of the best, most entertaining blaxploitation movies ever made. Issac Hayes has tremendous charisma and his performance is terrific. Plus for STAR TREK TOS fans, wait until you see Lt. Uhura in this one. It's as far from the bridge of the Enterprise as you can get.

Besides the Dolemite films, I really haven’t dipped my toes into Blaxsploitation yet. I feel Giallo and Ozploitation films are the ones I have been reaching for primarily lately. That said, I will be referring back to these last few pages when I am ready to take the plunge.

Same here. Next sale I go for all the VS blaxploitation titles...

On the Oz stuff.... was also not a fan of Next of Kin....and really disliked Death Warmed Up. Arrows The Navigator was ok. Liked Vigil.

I really liked Arrows Smash Palace though.

While I'm at my home in Germany I have been looking at a lot of German Blus and trying to compare the releases with other ones out there. Not an easy task to find any relevant info and man has Germany been pumping out the catalog titles on Blu since the last time I looked. Anyway, I noticed today that Amazon.de is having a 3 for 17.55 euro sale on select titles. With free Prime shipping to Germany that's less than $7.00 a title (I'm not sure what the shipping rates are to the USA these days, probably very high, if available at all?).

So I picked up KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS, HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP and SQUIRM, but without any knowledge of transfers or anything. Well, I love all three movies, but none are top priorities so I guess I can live with them if they are a mess. Just from a cursory glance, I think the US/UK editions are more expensive. I don't suppose anyone here has seen any of these German Blus?
The US and UK releases of Squirm are both OOP so the German edition would be the cheapest one to get. Humanoids from the Deep recently got a 4K remastered release from Shout Factory and 88 Films will most likely be using that transfer for their upcoming release next year. The German release most likely has the older transfer as it came out before SF’s remastered edition. Kingdom of Spiders most likely is the same transfer as the Code Red release and judging by the back of the German case has most the same extras.

May have been mentioned when the topic changed to Ozploitation, but I found this a fun flick.

I've enjoyed many of Umbrella's releases.

Another favorite: from them.

Oh man! Love that movie! I have the Xenon DVD... would love to upgrade that!

Hopefully VS gets this one out... if they do it would be DAY 1 for me!

This brings up another thought in my mind...

Xenon Pictures and Vinegar Syndrome must have some sort of agreement... because there seems to be a lot of Blaxploitation films whose release rights seem to bounce back and forth between the 2 companies...

Either that or they are bitter rivals...one or the other....

They did (do) have an agreement. Coonskin is long overdue from when they were releasing the Rudy Ray Moore titles. There was even supposed to be a box offered to house those Moore releases. Still waiting for borh.

Yeah if they end up releasing a Rudy box...I will probably pass because I already have the separate VS releases of Dolemite, Human Tornado, Petey Wheatstraw, and Disco Godfather... and I'm not really interested in any of Rudy's newer stuff outside of that 4 film "classic" period...

But that's good to know though!

My understanding was no more blaxploitation films from VS. Lyons said they did not sell.

The box was supposed to be just to house the 4 titles.
I remember them talking about it. It would be cool.

That sucks. Sweet Sweetbacks Badass Song was also excellent. Both Penitentiary fims are also excellent.

Would you elaborating on these? I'm not too familiar with Blaxploitation outside of a handful of the more well known ones, and I'd like to explore this particular subgenre a bit more. I've Googled around for some "Top 10/20/30" lists but they all seem to reach for the same titles so they're not nearly as helpful as I know you guys would be.

Hell Up in Harlem, Cotton Comes to Harlem and Truck Turner are three I would recommend right off the top if you haven't seen them. Those are a few that really got me into the genre
