Is there so much as one iota of talent left in Hollyweird?
Plenty of the studios take pitches if you have some ideas.

Nope. How so? Guess we disagree then or something. Sorry. Its amazing how great movies turn out when things happen organically. I dunno. I guess its irrelevant since I agree with the guy a few posts above that stated the only good Predator film came out 34 years ago. Ill just watch that one. Good luck with this one.

Alien (Rape/Birth)
Aliens (Rape/Motherhood)

Resurrection (Cloning?)
Prometheus (Fatherhood?)
Covenant (All of the above)

Blade Runner (Slavery etcetera)
Blade Runner 2049 (Underclass autonomy)
Not sure how we got on Alien here but thats another franchise that ended a long time ago as in Aliens ends it. 3 & 4 never happened. Prometheus is somewhat decent as a sci-fi film but really doesnt do anything for the franchise. Covenant? I appreciate your effort to try and make that film into something special but my goodness it isnt. Its like teen horror shlock with characters who you cant wait to see get killed. Its about as deep as spit puddle. They could have done so much more with Covenant but didnt. It should have ended with David creating the Queen from Aliens. That would have been cool. Im not sure how Covenant is supposed to tie into the franchise but its just a bad movie, IMO.

For me it mostly did end. For you and others it didnt. Thats OK. I own and watch Alien, Aliens and usually Prometheus as a prequel(watch before the other two). Its a solid trilogy per se for me. Im content with that. The rest of the films just dont work for me.

Its not a think outside the box issue, its simply not being entertained/enjoying the content that those other films I skip provide.

It sounds incredibly stupid imo to even be focusing on such a stupid angle. It sounds significantly better imo that you have it take place during a confrontation between the Native Americans and European invaders and the Predator merely uses the conflict to kill both sides and as they begin to realise, a young respected member of the Commanche as they're going to focus on helps barter a temporary cease fire to allow them to focus on dealing with the Predator and you use that tension between the groups.

I don't like the idea of chucking around teenagers into a Predator movie at all. They're useless cannon fodder at best or use them for emotional drive when they get murdered for being naive and trying to think they can do better than the adults.

They are adults when they are capable. If there is a rite of passage they could be adults at 13.

I agree with you. Not a bad idea you have there if it’s set in the "Apocalypto" time frame.

I think the fans complained about Prometheus.. thus the Studio instead of making a sequel to Prometheus, they crapped their pants and made a half sequel to Prometheus and half sequel to Aliens.

I wish they would've stuck with the orignal plan and went ahead with Prometheus 2. I mean, it was supposed to explain how the Engineers
[Show spoiler]became Xenomorphs
.

Comparing their track records the last 20 years, I trust Mangold way more than I do Spielberg at the moment.

They don't present generally well to us though in visual form. It's like saying that we could make a period piece about young teens marrying, having sex and kids etc. because X culture does it as a "rite" but we know it will completely get lambasted as a movie and our modern notions of maturity are highly skewed against accepting "children" as anywhere close to mature which is why you literally seem to never get young politicians because a useless old git generally is perceived as "world weary" or something and "reliable" even if completely wrong as a stereotype.

As i said before, if you craft a story well enough, it kind of can pull it off. IT Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are a solid example of this because it deliberately leans into that childhood period and the associated struggles. It's harder to try and shoehorn that teen stuff they seem to be setting up for this movie.

You know, i actually think the best Predator movie they probably managed was Predators and its a damn shame we never seemed to have got a sequel but it was probably the better executed because it pitted different Predators against each other and also humans. Laurence Fishburne in that was fantastic imo and they all seemed to fit in.

Generally people like to watch movies for escapism and Predator is literally a horror/thriller/action romp where it works best when you create the suspense and terror of the creature and then slowly seed in more direct conflict where they characters get picked off once you've briefly made audiences connect a little bit with them.

Honestly, i love the idea of the Native Americans and European colonists getting picked off and initially blaming the others as a means to start the conflict between the two sides before the Predator shows up whilst they both fight and starts killing them resulting in a truce on both sides. Helping you show off families on both sides and create a little angle of care for humans. I just think focusing on two 18 year olds is the wrong call. Instead have them be adults in mid to late 20s to 30s.

Predator 5 Slated To Begin Filming In May

Quote:

Produced by Davis Entertainment, the 5th Predator film (still also known as Skulls) is slated to begin filming in the middle of May 2021 in Calgary, Canada! And along with this tentative production slate, we also have another peek into the story of the film via this production synopsis:

“The story will follow Kee, a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior. Many years ago – in a time before any Europeans had ever encroached on their lands – the Comanche people had a well defined society and gender norms. Kee is very close to her younger brother, Taabe, who is being groomed as a leader. As capable as any young man in the tribe, Kee has always been a teacher and source of inspiration for Taabe. In the Comanche way – she is Patsi – the elder sister that has helped to shape him. Kee is a truth teller and has insight that others do not. A tomboy, she wants to prove herself in the masculine world of the Comanche. When danger threatens them all – Kee sets out to prove that she is as capable as any young warrior.”

I'm excited about this. This sounds great in my opinion. I should start playing Predator: Hunting Grounds again to see how they have updated it. Its a fun game.

Calgary. Nice. Alberta getting some love.

But I'm not super sold on the plot. A group of Comanche warriors sounds rad. But adding in the "strong woman" element who fights for her place in a time when that wouldn't happen feels so out of place. Especially when it's coming from a bunch a guys who probably don't know much about Indigenous Americans nor women.

This has been in production for 4 years. Hopefully in that time they did enough research and have the proper people consulting. As for the out of place part, it is a sci-fi fantasy movie.

More Predator on my screen is a good thing.

Can't be worse than The Predator, right?

Not sure a Predator would need to team up with anyone to fight a human?
I see this movie as the ultimate test of survival. She will track and hunt the Predator. Probably using her familiar environment to her advantage.
