I bought volume 1 so I'll get Volume 2. The problem I had with volume 1 was the DVD bonus disc in the white paper sleeve was heavily scratched. I sent Sony an email (same address to get the replacement disc with the missing features) and never got reply. I hope it doesn't happen again.

On second thought, I just might get this.
I'm thinking selling off the digital code set and then likely selling off 4 of the films, I might end up getting to keep the book and box and the bonus disc and the two other films for free. And then I can get a quick watch of the four before I sell off, I've never even seen but bits and pieces of Stripes and Taxi Driver, possibly the same for Oliver! and who knows maybe somehow one or more of those or TSN will make me even want to keep them. I figure a lot of people might want only 1 or 2 of the set and and yet won't want to wait a year or two or more for individual releases and that each of these four would likely have quite high individual demand: Stripes, Taxi Driver, The Social Network, Oliver! and might be pretty easy stand alone sells on ebay. The digital codes would sell. Bet might end up getting at least the price paid for the set back and still have the book, 30hr bonus disc and two films. It is shocking Sleapless In Seattle didn't make this set, that would've made it three keepers for me and then for sure a pure buy. The first set was great though, happy to keep every title in that set and was super into LOA and ALOTO which had been near top of my request list. That was one heck of a set, great combo of stuff. And the box set and book and slipcovers, just everything about it was just top notch. Last edited by WBMakeVMarsMovieNOW; 06-15-2021 at 04:27 AM. |

Absolutely pumped for Social Network as it's my personal all time favorite film. So that alone makes it a day 1 buy for me.
Other then that I'm embarrassed to say I've never actually seen the other 5 films in the set just like last time. I had only ever seen Gandhi out of the previous 6 but still picked up Vol. 1. I figured what better way to see these classics for the first time then in 4k! |

Got vol.1 and this is a no-brainer for me surely.
Last time I saw Stripes was on VHS back in 1984. It was also the very first time I saw a movie on home video, so jump to 4K will be kinda amusing ![]() One thing I got curious about Taxi Driver - since it's scanned from original negative - I've read from multiple sources that Scorsese had to desaturate/darken the shootout scenes in the end to avoid X-rating, but I don't remember ever reading if he did the alterations to the original negative? |

Arguably, this one is less "classic" than the first one. By that I mean that most of the movies are from modern cinema. Only Anatomy of a Murder and Oliver! can really be considered part of the era often called the Golden Age. You even have one from the 21st century. With the first set, the whole first half was from that period. Just seems like these collections are becoming more about popularity than about what made Columbia. I'm also sad It Happened One Night, which was one of the movies in the poll, isn't there. The oldest movie this time is almost from the 1960s.

I do think Social Network shouldn't have been added to this, though beggars can't be choosers I will take any excuse to get it on the format. I consider it somewhere high in the top movies of the 21st century. Even top 5... but thats hard to call it a "classic".

I think overall this selection is pretty positive as it shows Sony has plans for a few more to come which is only a good thing. Unfortunately, it means we have to wait another year or two for some of our favorites titles but at least the market for catalog titles is still there. |

This set contains a film from the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s and 2010s. It’s a pretty wide range. I dunno, I'm pretty damn happy with the selection of titles (and Oliver! might actually be my most anticipated tbh). This looks like it's going to be another amazing collection. ~Matt |

Absolutely pumped for this. Is it too early to start predicting what might be in Volume 3?
