I can’t even fathom skipping cutscenes, especially on a first run of a game. That is stripping away a huge portion of the experience the game provides.

(Excluding the dying and having to rewatch something you just sat through.)

Boss cutscenes in second section of Demo yeah.

In the demo, the first section with the first boss is interesting & I don’t think people realize during the boss fight, you can’t die. If your health gets too low, you will trigger the cutscene with EVE & Tachy.

In the second section there is a cutscene “It’s a Trap!” Cutscene. Bunch of those little critters coming after you. I didn’t die there so I don’t know if you can skip that if you do die. I’m just aware of the last boss in parking lot & boss challenge being skip able if you die.

The intro cutscene you definitely can’t skip. Can’t pause neither.

So I decided to replay the demo with my PS5's Audio Format (Priority) set to Dolby Atmos. It's actually worse. Whereas I was getting surround output during gameplay (although the surrounds are dead during cutscenes, and the center remains silent during both gameplay and cutscenes) with Linear PCM, all the audio is exclusive to the front left and front right channels if I switch to Dolby Atmos. This game needs a serious day one audio patch.

Yeah, I noticed that during my Dolby Atmos test today. I had me ear pressed to my surrounds, so I wasn't paying attention to the fight. So I was surprised I "won" that boss battle while not putting up a fight.

Not impressed. The gameplay has no oomph to it. The action lacks some style, at least at that point. It's not an ugly game but something about the art design lacks a punch to it. It's just flash.

The characters look odd talking, very dull. Also the voice acting in there was flat. So this is a Korean developed game but is English the intended dub?

Korean voice acting is better than English.

I’m too lazy to read subtitles so I leave the voice in English. Some lines are just horrible while the majority are acceptable enough.

Given that it’s only an hour into the game, I’ll remain more optimistic for the final release with regards to lines not yet heard.

This is most likely a game where the USER average score will be higher than the PRO CRITIC average score, over at Metacritic

I played the demo past the first boss. I decided it wasn't something I was having much fun with an just stopped. It's like a poor man's Heavenly Sword and I wasn't feeling it lol.

I want skippable cutscenes because if you ever want to replay a level and have about 10 minutes to play before other obligations, you'll be watching a movie cutscene instead of actually playing a video game in that time.

And on a second playthrough of levels saved for replaying, mandatory cutscenes are a pain.

But it's also nice if it's a skippable cutscene of something superficial in the story, not a critical scene. Usually some fetch quest story cutscenes where they're explaining to go fetch something and bring it back to the ship/base.

Thanks. So only if you watch it first, then die, then it won't repeat in that game.

That's how I initially felt about the sword attacks, but then discovered you can unlock a lot of special attacks and new moves that gives the game more depth and impact IMO.

Which is why at the end of the day, game critics scores are subjective just as how you or I like/dislike any game.

Found out second hand that the game is made by only 260ish devs. Also the game creator gave each one of them a brand new PS5. Pretty cool.

I’m mostly avoiding Stellar Blade YouTube videos because I don’t like going in knowing the entire game before I play it. Overwhelmingly positive reception from gamers on YouTube who played the demo. Surprisingly, most positive praise is from female content creators.

The X’s of social media is just pure trash. Why people invest their time there still flys over my head when 70% of comments made are of people who trash just to troll.

Does anyone know when the reviews drop?

Is there any info out there on a review embargo?

(I know reviews and reviewers are subjective, and reviews are only one's opinion...etc. but I still like to use 'em as a tool to help me make decisions)

I think Stellar Blade will average a 7 to 8 out of 10 for the critic reviews. It's not paving any new paths in terms of gameplay for the most part, and there are some gameplay concerns like when Eve is swinging from the horizontal poles to vault, she can be in the backswing and still vault perfectly to the next pole or edge. There's little timing needed for it. Fix that IMO.

I do like the ability to swim. That's unexpected IMO. That opening level would be interesting to return to and ignore the woman guide, and just go where you want. There are some paths that look accessible that she refuses access to for the pace of the story scene.

Eve reminds me of Bayonetta, as she puts the sword weapon into her hair piece, where Bayonetta uses her hair to attack and wear as clothing.

If some gamers are concerned Eve is an exaggerated (I don't think so), stylized character, I guess they haven't seen Bayonetta yet who is very exaggerated and not in proportion for her legs.

I hope there is a select level option after the level is completed. That's a great option to have without having to replay the entire game, but also with all unlocked powers/outfits/abilities.

Loved the demo for this! Hoping I can get through FF7 Rebirth (taking my time and early in Cosmo Canyon with 73-74 hours played) before it comes out before this is out.

There are 4 outfits for EVE in the Demo. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the leaked demo gave everyone access to use all 4 outfits at anytime & I think that’s why it got shut down on PSN. I remember seeing people free roam the second section of the demo showcasing all 4 outfits on YouTube.

Speaking of the demo, you can transfer your save to the full game. I might do this. I’ve been grinding out & unlocking skill points + I have around 3,000 in-game currency so far. Am thinking might be worth it to play the demo a little bit each day before the game is released. Might even have extra unused SP”s for upgrades if I actually grind this demo. There are a few that cost 5 points each.

I doubt that’s why it got shut down, was just an accidental early release further from launch than they wanted. But yep, there’s 4 outfits (plus the Skin Suit) you can switch between in the current demo too—just only in the extra boss fight that unlocks after you beat the main part of the demo. I got into the early demo and played before I got booted, there’s nothing different about the officially released one that I can tell.

To transfer the save over you have to beat the main demo boss and leave it there. If you start a new demo playthrough after beating it, it will delete that save (has a pop up when you try). I did a little grinding to unlock a couple of skills i wanted to try and then beat it and haven’t played more as I don’t want to grind again etc. Have beat the extra boss a few times though.

So how’s that work?
Do I have to KEEP the demo installed while also installing the full retail version off of the disc and onto the PS5 simultaneously?

In other words, when can we uninstall the demo ?
