So you all can stop with the bullshit about Disney+ not being profitable. They already planned for this. Try to keep up will you!
Yeah, it takes a while for big business model to become profitable. I bet if Disney released the ones on D+ on 4K disc, I am sure this thread will be quiet lol.

I know most of the hardcore physical only folks want LIE-MAX ENHANCED on 4K disc but at the moment all we can do is either hope & be patient or subscribe to D+.

Just because one unconditionally loves physical media doesn't mean they are right with wishing death of streaming business as it could lead to big job losses. Also expecting every content on streaming to be on physical media is silly.

Adapt or perish.

I'd prefer they look for a seasoned hand with experience overseeing an imaginative production house, good with storytelling and an eye on developing technologies. LucasFilm is more than Star Wars. If they stay in-house, maybe someone from ILM, but I don't know. I'm not sure Favreau would want to run a division, and Filoni's still not seasoned enough beyond his particular focus on his animated TV fare.

I agree that Lucasfilm should be bigger than just Star Wars. But at this point, without George Lucas involved, what makes Lucasfilm really Lucasfilm, asides from the already established IPs such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Willow?

'Disney’s last financial results, however, were shocking as the company spent and spent on streaming, with losses in the division ballooning to nearly $1.5 billion for the fiscal fourth quarter ending in September — more than twice the red ink of the year before and much steeper than expected. '

Thats why Chapek was ousted, not the fan stuff posted here.

Photoshop: The Movie.

Seriously, though, LucasFilm shepherded a lot of projects besides the Big Two. Huge fan of Tucker: The Man and His Dream and it's been far too long since I've seen Twice Upon a Time. It would be...nice...to see Lucasfilm making some non-IP small films again, but these would require budget approval from Disney, and that seems unlikely, at best...there would have to be a compelling reason to make such films under the Lucas arm versus Disney just doing the films themselves

Lucas has some great IP in some their 90s PC games like Maniac Mansion/Day of the Tentacle, Secret of Monkey Island, and Loom that would make fantastic movies if they had the right person making them. Probably will never happen tho.

Meanwhile, there's a Touchstone movie with her name on it still waiting for a Blu-ray, and they missed the chance to call it a "30th Anniversary Edition":

Re: Star Wars if Disney actually wants to get it back on track and rebuild the fanbase IMO only way is decanonize Disney trilogy (not too hard since its barely coherent as-is), and pay Lucas to spearhead his original vision for post Skywalker

The same George Lucas who the fans turned on after the Prequels? Putting him into a position that made him want to sell Lucasfilm?

Not all fans turned on him after the PT. I always thought of the bashers as a small but very loud minority.

Prequel Trilogy and Crystal Skull were heavily criticized. His long-time passion project, Red Tails, flopped. Strange Magic lost a small fortune. At some point he asked why he should make movies anymore when people were saying such mean things about him.

You really think the people in here give a rat's ass about Noises Off, or any movie which doesn't have a brand name such as Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm attached?

There is so much you could say about Disney, but what it comes down here, and the only thing people care about, are the franchises, the IP, the nerd masturbation movies.
