I have ZERO problems with people making an informed decision and choosing that purchase option over physical due to convenience, price or so on. My problems purely down to the restrictive BS these companies do deliberately to stop you "owning" the content to play whenever you want.

At some point, Digital stores shut down, authentication servers offline and no more patch can be done etc. and make your purchase essentially useless as if it was never made. Some may argue that they purchased it expecting that because they don't care after 5-10 years etc. but to me, if i paid for something i want to retain that right to play at anytime i desire. Physical media in general during the PS2 era is the best example i can give. No updates or patches to download. A proper fully QA tested game.

If i was a platform holder i would force developers and publishers to ensure QA is fully done when a game goes "Gold" to be pressed on disc in a fully playable form, and if it isn't to hold back their payments from digital sales until they resolve the physical disc based problems with a reprint and replacement programme.

I genuinely don't think cost is a factor or excuse anymore. If clothing brands like Shein can make fast fashion globally, i don't for a second believe Blu Ray which has been around for almost 20 years commercially now can't be done cheap enough. They literally just want to squeeze as much revenue out of consumers as possible and lie.

We don't have a cost of living crisis. We never ever have. It's a Cost of Greed and fuelled by these pathetic corporations pursuit of infinite profits through any nickel and diming they can muster.

Yeah, it's never been about cost of making and shipping discs really. I mean every cent counts in the corporate world, but that's pretty nominal.

It's always been more about wanting to get away from people being able to loan games to friends, sell and buy used games, rent physical copies etc. Going digitally only means consumers either buy the game or play it for a fee on some subscription service if they opt to put the game on one.

That's great for folks like me who just want to play a game once and never touch it again, but terrible for people who want to own and collect their media.

It would be ideal if physical games continued to exist alongside digital and streaming options like movie discs, CDs, records etc. have--even if it becomes more niche like those have.

Having an Outlaws SW disc act as a key that requires internet to download the game is probably one of the dumbest moves on Ubisoft's part, so I totally understand why they're getting so much grief from Gamers on their media sites like Youtube and other sites. Fans are definitely not happy The Crew 1 is completely now unplayable, since Uibsoft shut down its servers and only support part 2. Until that's gone next. I never supported The Crew 1 or 2, as it's always been online only, but was on disc.

Good point, same here. Still many games and stories to complete, plus other hobbies in addition to video gaming. Making waiting for new games much easier these days.

But most of all, when the full game isn't on the actual disc. That is really bad on Ubisoft's part, and WB Games of the Harry Potter HogLeg game, which I'm still waiting to hit 19.99 but that game is holding its price above 35.99 really well for the past 2 years now.

A lot of the feedback on this game, the most positive is, it's not that bad. LOL!

I'll likely grab this sometime after it has a steep price cut.

30 fps mode quality, but another 40 fps mode too, 3 modes total for consoles.

This game has potential, and I bet it'll be some fun for classic Star Wars fans since this takes place between Empire and Return of the Jedi.
Will try it out most likely by Thanksgiving when it's probably going to be on sale, maybe by 50% off for 1 week.

Man, those resolution figures are horrid. As low as 720p in Performance and still not locking at 60.

Ubisoft saving the good stuff for a PS5 Pro performance mode

Honestly, any game being this poor from a studio the size and resources of Ubishite is embarrassing.

My initial thought was "that sounds like FFXVI at launch and we managed" but I'm not very far in this game and I know it is not going to hit anywhere near FFXVI story or entertainment value . Not to mention FF has much more appealing character designs. Damn, now I kind of want to Play FFXVI again. A bit OT but is it worth going for the platinum?

I remember people complaining about FFXVI incessantly for its technical polish, then actually playing the game myself at launch and thinking the game played fine and just... looked beautiful at times. I really try to keep an open mind around what other people claim to be "make-or-break" technical issues lately.

Btw for those who are concerned, Star Wars: Outlaws does play offline after a warning that you are not connected to Ubisoft Connect.

I just need a clarification on this. So you have to connect to Ubisoft to download the patch which otherwise means you cannot play the disc version at all. Then once you have done that and started the game, you need to be initially connected to the internet to start the game and can play the entire game offline after internet would be off or you can start and play the entire game completely offline and just get a warning initially you're not connected?

From my understanding, you just need the initial connection to download the patch, then you should be good to go after that.

Also, be sure to do your homework, heard the console experience for this game wasn't very good.

Also, This...

https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/help/s...nd%20blockers.

https://www.gamesradar.com/games/ope...breaking-bugs/

Quote:
PS5 players who started their games in that window between the early access launch and the release of the patch are now facing the potential of game-breaking bugs. "As one of the players affected who had access to an older version of the game, we are aware you might be encountering some issues after this recent patch," Ubisoft said in an email to affected players that's now making the rounds on Reddit.

Ubisoft isn't specific about the exact nature of these bugs, but says once the patch is installed, you should "start a new save to fully enjoy Star Wars Outlaws as our team intended. If you continue on a prior save you will unfortunately face issues and progression blockers." Reports from players suggest that the bug will have you stuck in space, unable to land on-planet again. This apparently occurs after the False Flag mission that first sends you to space.

Maybe nitpicking but I don’t understand why:

- Kay doesn’t have the ability to move/hide bodies after knocking someone out in a “stealth” mission. It doesn’t have to be MGS/Hitman stuffing ragdolls in lockers, but can she at least drag them a few feet so the dumb guards don’t converge?

- nobody wakes up from Kay’s low-energy sucker punch, may as well be dead. I know this was mentioned after seeing it in previews, but Massive needs to add a bit more “punch” to those punches.

Playing in Quality Mode.

The game was kinda crap before Day 1 update. Lots of QOL improvements.

Going to start this tomorrow. Love the steel book I got from Target. There are two disc hubs though, which is odd, but it’s very nice. Can’t wait to play this tomorrow, my birthday…perfect timing.

Ubisoft is a difficult company to trust. This game doesn't help them out. Like some in this thread I'll probably wait until it's on sale.

I mean, not like years and years of bait and switch or constant price crashing of new IPs hasn't built them up as an unreliable company to trust lol

They're Ubishite to me forever more now. I have no more expectations like i might have in the past.

I love this game. Playing around in Star Wars without lightsabers and Jedi stuff is so refreshing. After the update the graphics look great on XSX and I keep getting wowed by feeling like I'm in that Star Wars world as a lowlife.

The open world is not quite your standard Ubisoft formula. You find sidequests and intel through conversations, datapads, and other stuff in the world so it feels organic. I'm 8 hours in and riding my speeder around the world to find upgrade parts for my gun and other stuff. I still haven't seen the second planet. I'm really enjoying soaking up this world and following leads to find better parts for my ship. It doesn't feel like a chore like other Ubisoft games can. The stealth missions being instafail can be annoying, but it's not bothering me. You're very brittle as a character. You can get smoked pretty easily in a big gun fight so going loud earlier on isn't your best bet anyway.

I can't think of anything this year that has made me want to keep playing for just one more mission. I'm not even a fan of Star Wars past the first three movies. If you're craving an Ubisoft style open world game this is a fresh take on it or if you're craving a fresh take on Stars Wars you can't go wrong.

There is too much forced stealth in this for my liking. Blah. Game is fine but I dont have the patience. Hopefully as the character upgrades, the stealth will get easier.
