Same here, unfortunately Target hasn't been reliably getting Arrows for several months. I've had a number of pre-ordered Arrow releases cancelled even when other retailers were able to ship them.

I sent in an inquiry and got this back:

-----

Thank you for getting in touch with Arrow Films!
We're sorry for the inconvenience this causes.
We are aware of the issue and our internal team is looking into this.
Kindly hold on to your copy and we'll update you as soon as we can.

-----

They say to hang onto the set and not return it, so it sounds like they're working on fixing it.

I think my new religion is Coffin Joe, that first film was so good !! I haven’t been that impressed by a new discovery in awhile. Crazy how graphic it is for it being a pre- Night of the Living Dead film

The set is not currently listed on the Target website. Damn.

That's definitely how I felt. I watched the Strange World of Coffin Joe recently and was quite shocked by the cannibalism scenes. They are very effective and gross for a 1960s b&w film. The final shot has Marins mowing down on a foot and it is pretty nasty.

Anyone know if these are region free? US version via Deep Discount was much cheaper than UK to send to Australia

is there any possibility that this is due to Arrow not shipping any more copies until they fix the errors?

or is this just a typical delay between Target and a boutique label?

Yes but target specifically has become unreliable with boutique labels. They have all but stopped selling Criterions as well and have been cancelling Arrow pre-orders for months.

The packaging is beautiful overall but there are definitely some odd decisions.

I don't like that you only get the artwork and title for one movie at a time on each of the cases that have two movies in them. The way I'd do it would be to put both titles on the spine, then have the artwork for movie A on the front and the artwork for movie B on the back, and then info about both movies on the reverse of the insert so you see it when you open the case.

Just weird to have a set of 11 movies but when you pull the cases out of the outer box, you only have 6 titles and illustrations.

Also, much more minor nitpick, but all the lobby cards in mine were in the wrong cases.

Probably same discs will work in either Region A or B, usually the case with Arrow discs, but I can check with my Region B set when I get home if it works in A, if that's helpful.

not much movement on this yet. I did notice that arrow have it back on their site but it is listed as "sold out". I have a feeling that the replacement program with go live around the same time they list it for sale again. That is just my hunch though.

They have to put the disc back through replication. That will take at least a month.

Didn't know that.

So there is a better than even chance they'll be cancelling these orders.

Hopefully there will be another influx of stock available at all the other etailers once Arrow gets the replacement discs replicated and packaged. Replacement discs for people who already have the sets may be made available withi a month, but it will probably be into March before we see these sets, with the corrected discs inside, offered for sale again.

I highly doubt that this property elicited such a quick sell out at that price point.
But I've been wrong before.

A lot of collectors will buy these box sets blind though. I've been guilty that myself at times. And then when they become hard to get at the initial release there tends to be a stampede effect where people who might have wanted to take some time to thing about whether they really want this will rush out to try to get it before its "too late." That happened with The Daimajin Trilogy and even with Django's initial bluray release which had to be recalled for some copyright problem. Many folks who might be looking at this on various websites and seeing it as "sold out" probably don't even know about the subtitle problem, they just see that its "going, going, fast." But the wildcard is always that we never know how many of these "limited edition" sets are being made and for how long since they don't quote a number up front (like Powerhouse Indicator does).
