Any good filmmaker will want their film to stand as a work of art, not as a generic product to consume and forget about. Any good company will want to put their product out there in the best possible quality. They'll also ideally want to identify what their customers desire and find a way of giving it to them. Warners could do MOD discs to produce exactly as many as are likely to sell. This is why boutiques do runs of 1000 for some titles. There is only one conclusion that can be drawn - Warners don't care about art, quality or their customers. |

I guess if I was in charge of releasing the discs, I would have just bundled the 3D disc with the 4K, like Alita: Battle Angel or the 2016 Sony 3D titles.
It would be the best of both worlds for home theater enthusiasts. If only there was a way of convincing Warner Archive specifically to release 3D Blu-rays, as they seem to understand that their preservation efforts only attract a niche audience. |

The last 3D titles already were distributed through Warner Archive. The cover of Geostorm looks like it was printed on a computer, but it is legit. Warner stuck with 3D longer than any other studio, I bet David Zaslav is to blame for it stopping.

I am sure he cancelled a few conversions but that's the thing, 3D movies are still coming out. What stopped is Warners caring about making them available for home viewing. There's no love at that company for the product, it's just product to them.

A more feasible option would be doing MOD 3D disc or limited runs at $50 a pop, and the price never drops below $50. I'd be happy with that. No digital code, no slipcover, no extra 2D disc. But enabling the 2D version on the 3D disc how first generation 3D blu-rays used to have the option sounds good. But if they were to go that route, no special features would be included because ideally you want to reserve all that disc space for the 3D frame packed image. Which would then result with everyone on here complaining about the 3D version not coming with any special features ugh. And that is why we can't have nice things. Presentation>supplementals. As far as I'm concerned, extra features should become a digital thing only. Stop wasting disc space or discs in general for them. Maybe someone on here has a more knowledgeable take on the logistic financial stats of pressing limited run or MOD blu-ray discs. Last edited by saxomaphone; 08-12-2025 at 06:25 PM. |

OOoooor they could at least release a SBS 4K SDR 2D version on all streaming services, since most 3D TV's have the option to convert SBS video -_-.
Streaming 4K SBS SDR 2D with a 768 kbps dts express/dolby digital+ STEREO mix. This could literally be released today with all 3D titles that haven't had a 3D blu-ray release on all streaming services! Last edited by saxomaphone; 08-12-2025 at 09:05 PM. |
