I thought it was great. Happy I got to see it in Dolby. Can't wait to watch the 4K. It's a bummer it didn't find/have an audience, but it doesn't diminish the film for me.

Theaters are bollocks now and have been for me since the MCU ended, I won't ever go again, I never cared about imax or 3D so staying home is easy. I did 5-7 films a year most of my adult life and now do 0 it's not hard to see why so many films fail/underperform. Stop spending so much money because too many of us stay home now. Also I think the popularity of Fury Road was overinflated like a tech stock, waiting 9 years for a prequel with a different actress and no max it's a no brainer it will go over most people's heads. Nostalgia has been ground into a pulp now it loses its potency if everything is meant to have it.

I can't say that the demise of movie theatres surprises me (as much as I was shocked by the underperformance of Furiosa and The Fall Guy).

The 2024 pre-sales ticket record in Brazil so far is Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I don't believe movie theatres will ever disappear altogether, but they'll become a niche business much like physical media.

As for me, I've done 25 cinema trips in 2024. I'm certainly going to beat my 2023 record of 38 films watched theatrically.

Easy to say this after the fact but I thought Fall Guy was gonna bomb hard. As much as Gosling and Blunt might be media darlings they're just not major draws on their own.

Didn’t have any problems with any Fury Road related bits in Furiosa, my main concern was whether a bit could have been trimmed from the runtime here and there.

I saw it twice, and there are two spots where it dragged a bit for me.
The first chapter, for sure, could be cut down.
The movie is definitely too long.

I thought it was gonna be at least a moderate hit ($300-$500M territory).

The problem with this one is that trailers and marketing gave off the exact same vibe as other generic, straight to streaming action flicks with big names up front.

The same thing kinda happened to David Leitch's last film, Bullet Train (which I didn't like that much). I saw both in theatres and Netflix resurgence boosted viewership beyond the reach theatres had for the project. I remember seeing a bunch of TikToks, memes, and new popularity months after the the initial theatrical release of Bullet Train.

I was really surprised by the failure. I thought it had the elements for success:

1) Gosling (esp. coming off his Barbie fame/viral moments)

2) Well publicized by both leads. Gosling did everything but go door to door.

3) Stood out in the early summer movie schedule.

4) Appealing genre breakdown: Rom Com with action elements

5) Did I mention Gosling?

We had some couples over for dinner and watched it as a group....it was a big hit...appealing to everyone who came over.

Dolby Cinema ticket prices are way too high here. Even if we have Odeon membership, they still charge £3 extra for Dolby Cinema. If I add commuting time and cost, it will cost me £26 (from my workplace in Central London) or £37 from my home which is higher than the 4K disc price. I really want to support Cinemas but man these costs and time are too much for me. I do have plans to watch Quiet Place Day 1.

When it comes to UK, I am done with watching movies at any other venue besides Dolby Cinema (West End), BFI IMAX and Science Museum IMAX. Cineworld are decent but again the prices are too high.

You have to pay me to watch in my local Vue Cinema lol as it is 360 degrees rubbish (awful picture and sound).

Special thanks to our human species who litter the venue with their rubbish (my sincere apologies to the staffs and cleaners on behalf of these human filths).

There wasn't any fat. The first act was not 'fast' because it was fleshing out up an origin story. I think most of us knew this was going to be that before we went into the theater.

The beefs I'm reading here seem thin to me. Every action film has characters doing extraordinary things and Mad Max films have always been pushing that. The CGI doesn't bother me.

I'll continue recommending this film highly. 8/10.

4K Blu-ray all special features compared to standard Blu-ray. WB should have done this with Dune: Part Two (2024) as well.

Whichever international release has a different artwork gets my money.

I won't even mention the fact (almost all releases do it anyway and no one seems to care) that '4K UltraHD' is written twice.

Could be worse, you know, like some 3D titles.

I agree, this is a horrible cover, very lazily put together.

I agree it’s not good but it is one of the official posters Warner used to promote 4DX screenings. Of course there were plenty of other much better posters they could if used instead.

The 4DX experience perfectly fits the bill of what Scorsese called the "theme park ride movie".

To be clear, I'm only talking about 4DX, not Furiosa.

This might take the cake as ugliest warner cover of the decade

Just going to throw my hat in the ring with all the others saying that VOD/streaming dates should be pushed further out from theatrical dates if the studios want to get butts in seats. The old 6+ month rule for video releases was always annoying but it did incentivize people to consider going to the cinema rather than just shrugging it off by telling themselves "it'll be out on <streaming service> in a month anyway".

Perhaps VOD/streaming/physical media on the same date.

More on topic: Decided not to see this because of the marketing. Loved Fury Road, top 10 action film, but this did not spark my engine.

Looking forward to rewatching this, saw twice at the cinema, which isn't much compared to some, the last movie i did this for was Fury Road.

I have a few issues with the movie but overall i thought it was excellent.
