There's really no safe bet. Some package better than others but a lot of damaged seems to be done in production, shipping, and packaging to and by the studios before retailers ever get it. In my experience, I've had steelbooks arrive in pristine boxes and bubble mailers and when I remove the shrink wrap the back is all dented or scratched, but the jcard above it is undamaged.

Sometimes Amazon ships in a box, sometimes Target does. I'm sure somebody else can help you with what smaller stores always use a box.

What is Disney's recent track record with 4K? Are they A.I. abominations, or are they new scans from the original camera negative?

This is one of Russell Crowe's best films, and one of my all-time favorites. I really hope they don't screw this up. I remember the Blu-ray looking pretty good, and I still have the beautifully packaged DVD with all the extras features.

Their recent track record has been quite solid, as far as my experience goes. The 4K prints for both KoH and Tombstone look incredible, and some of the digital-only ones (ex. Con Air, Pretty Woman, The Day After Tomorrow) are also pretty good as well.

The Day After Tomorrow might have been done by Fox before Disney took over.

Man it would’ve been really nice to get a retrospective documentary on how this movie has become a legendary classic over the years. As much as I love the LOTR films, ROTK winning best picture over this is..wrong

And I wonder why none of the special features are carrying over? There are amazing special features on the making of, visual effects, deleted scenes. But all this has is the latter.

I guess when choosing between having a film in 4K UHD in a couple weeks with no special features vs waiting another year for a 4K disc loaded with special features

By the way, kind of sucks they aren't doing a new BD and bringing the extras from the DVD. It makes no sense to have to get an old format just for the extras. :/ Don't understand studios sometimes.

The US is getting a steelbook only. The UK is getting steelbook and standard edition.
