The problem is WB doesn't understand what the best possible treatment is for a given film. I think they proved that when they put their co-founder's (Jack Warner) documentary on a UCE DVD. Their co-founder and they can't bother to issue the doc in HD....

The mistake being made here by posters is assuming WB is doing this for the sole purpose of a blu-ray release. By doing a complete resoration at a 4K scan as being adviertise they now have this film saved at a digital medium level to re-release for the future. If they want to release this film in theatres or on a future format with better resolution then the current 1080p available to the masses now. Consider it a fututre investment and a smart one at that.

Warner's refusal to license is really obnoxious considering the scope of their library. They've had an HD master of The Big Parade since 2003 and it's not even on Warner Archives DVD-R. Even the silent films in the TCM Archives and Warner Archives lines are generally from older 480i masters. |

Got my order in yesterday.
I've had this one on VHS, DVD, HD-DVD, and the Blu-Ray collector's set from a few years ago. If it comes out on a dozen more yet to be invented formats, I'll keep on buying it. In my top ten favorites. |

Just found out that a local theater will be screening Casablanca on March 21.
I'll be at that theater tomorrow to buy my tickets. |

Any news if this will get a standalone release at the same time? Or any date for a UK release yet? I'm about to sell my current set as I got a pretty sweet offer but I don't want to sell if it's not gonna happen like in six months or so. I checked previous releases and it took Warner about a year to release the regular edition and a year and a half before UK got it. I hope we don't have to wait that long this time.

This makes me angry. The WB has to waste time re-releasing this?? Um, don’t they realize that there’s a good number of other Bogart classics that still need to see the light on Blu-ray? Ok, we have Casablanca. Now what about Dark Passage, To Have and Have Not, Dead Reckoning, The Roaring Twenties, Key Largo, The Big Sleep, Sahara, etc....? I can go on forever....
Us Bogart fans want ALL of his films, not just those few that are currently on BD. I refuse to buy an Bogart films on Blu until Warner shows us that they're serious about releasing all of his films. |

1. Sahara is Sony/Columbia. 2. If you don't buy, how are they to know that they should issue more Bogarts? Hey, we already have Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre from WB, and The Caine Mutiny from Sony. It's expensive to restore films to put on Blu. p.s. it should be "We Bogart fans..." not "Us Bogart fans..." ![]() |

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only Bogart film here. It's either all or nothing. I feel very uneasy buying only 1 or 2 Bogart films. I must have the entire collection because having only 1 or 2 films makes my Bogart collection look pitiful! And I wonder why they never released any Bogart/Bacall films on Blu. Those are my favorites!!!

I would still like to get The Treasure of Sierra Madre. I saw it for the first time ever on Netflix last year. I love Casablanca, its one of my favorite films. I would not mind having The Caine Mutany I have seen that one several times before and have enjoyed it.

Oh God, yes.......I've been for about 20 years and I'm 44 now. As a hetrosexual man, one thinks of those old Hollywood leading men of film who had certain aspects to them that were just plain cool. You've got your James Deans, your Cary Grants.....a whole plethora of greats, but I would personally put Bogart as #1.

Heck, no. Give us more, but I temper that craving by also saying to the studio in the same sentence, please take your time and do the transfer right. Warner has been very respectful of their old catalog classics, including those with Bogart. I think there's a good helping of his work out there. The Caine Mutiny, Treasure of Sierra Madre, The Maltese Falcon, The African Queen, Casablanca. I wonder when The Big Sleep or even Key Largo are coming. I always liked the Bogart/Robinson mix in that movie.
