Yeah I heard of that...apparently those are scenes that were inputted specifically for IMAX 3D or something and I guess were shot in 1.78:1, but because the whole movie isn't fullscreen, I think putting it on the list might cause confusion and/or doesn't fit the "criteria" i guess. DISCLAIMER: I am not suggesting in any way that Dark Knight is not "good" enough to be on the list or that it is inferior IN ANY WAY but simply is different from the group in the list. Thanks again to you both for the contributions... |

All Blu-rays are widescreen, they are just at different ratios and don't allways fill a standard widescreen tv from top to bottom so there will be black bars on the top and bottom for some movies. unlike dvd full screen wear it puts black bars on the left and right and squishes the movie if you swith it to widescreen.

Right, I see where you're coming from. The way I see it, we'll never escape the black bars hindering us from enjoying every single space on the TV because it's ultimately up to the filmmakers as to how wide it goes. My Casino Royale BD has very small bars, but I'd imagine in a flick like LotR, they'd be quite large.

I don't care if you want every single movie to be 1.85:1. I just can't stand it that people determine what movies they buy because of that sole reason. Good Luck Chuck isn't going to be any better in 1.85:1 than 2.40:1, they movie sucks donkey balls no matter how it looks. So if you're buying movies just so they fill up the screen, then for the love of God, stop buying movies.

As for "the list" itself, the Coppola Restoration Blu-rays of the Godfather Trilogy are actually (open matte) 1.78:1. |

![]() i actually hate them as well, but I also understand that I'm missing areas on the sides of the shot if it's turned into full screen....just get a big enough tv and there's still plenty of picture even with the bars. problem solved! ![]() |
