MGM/Fox released the French disc. Universal owns it in the US.

IIRC there are some other subtle editing differences.

Hmm.....wonder if the day for night scene and 5.1 soundtrack will be fixed.
So I wondering should I hold out on buying the first and wait for this release?
About Conan the Destroyer can I buy that right now? No re release for the Destroyer?

Does anyone know of any other (than amazon) online store to buy the French steelbook cheaper?

(I've held off buying it, because i was curious to see what is this new upcoming US bluray and if it has been corrected)

I would wait on Barbarian just to see if the new one's been fixed, I have a feeling it will be. Universal got a lot of flack over the soundtrack and day for night scene back when the original Blu was released, so they're definitely aware of the issues...why wouldn't they fix it?

That's getting a re-release as well. May 10th.

Hope they add the commentary that's on the French release.

Never seen either, are these movies essential must-haves for any Arnold fan's collection? Or just the first one?

First one - YES YES YES

Second one - opinions may vary.

I think Barbarian is the best thing Arnie ever did. I wish he and Milius had made more movies together, even if they weren't Conan movies.

I like them both! I've read most all the books, and comics. Would love to see Arnie try to do a third film based on the King Conan comics, just to have a nice trilogy.
A lot of good source material there, and I think Arnie could still pull it off.

Indeed, and out of all of the so-called "legacy" sequels that Arnold's been contemplating doing (Conan, Terminator, Predator, etc.), the aged King Conan film makes the most sense, since the original Robert E. Howard stories featuring the 60-year-old Cimmerian go all the way back to the 1930s. It's not like, say, someone contrivedly shoehorning an "old model" Arnie T-800 into a Terrminator film simply for the sake of cashing in on the actor's participation -- the material has been around for almost a century now, plus the whole King Conan storyline was first set up waaaaaay back in the original 1982 John Milius film.

According to the Movie Money topic in the Deals forum, Both Universal Conan titles will hit shelves soon with tickets for Warcraft or Huntsman. Considering that, I doubt these are new releases, just a new UPC for the version with the free tickets.

Didn't held off on buying both new for $4 each. I knew that The Barbarian was getting a rerelease. Didn't know that the Destroyer was also getting a rerelease.

I'll definitely double dip if the issues you guys in this thread talk about is fix.

Any new information on this release?

It's probably just a Movie Money re-release or they're adding the Digital HD.

I was down at the Bestbuy, and they had a number of Universal bluray re-issues with $8 off of the new Huntsman flick.

The Conan the Barbarian bluray was the exact same case as the original release from 2011. I was able to hold both in the store, the only difference I saw was the coupon sticker on the front, and the UPC sticker on the back on the outside of the wrap to cover the original...

it also said it was still 129 mins, not 131 as the prelim specs on this site say? unless the re-issues i saw are a coincidence, but I doubt it.

Still hoping that it has the fixed audio inside, but don't want to get it until i hear otherwise....

I would love to see a new transfer of Barbarian...at least on par with Destroyer.
