I’m off to watch San Andreas in 3D.

This not a religious crusade where converting each other is the goal. Enjoy what you enjoy, but when you try to make false equivalencies I will refute them.

I know how to shop for discs; they go on sale like everything else does and I do not pay "four times as much" for them. My disc purchases, even when they do cost more, also give me much more: true ownership, the best quality, and in most cases a digital copy.

My hobby has enriched my life and that of those around me. I have ample space for my collection and how I choose to use that space is my choice and it needs no approval from you or your girlfriend.

I admit when I am wrong; even alchav can attest to that over our long history of conversation, but you have to prove me wrong. Disagreeing with me is not proof; it is just your opinion.

I keep telling that to my screen but it insists on playing them. Been enjoying them for 10 years now. Got enough to enjoy the next couple of years also. 3DFA are releasing some gems, I don't see that stopping. They are one of the best labels/companies out there. Quality products for quality lovers. You wouldn’t understand.

I'm still right! I don't have a habit of seeing what I want to see. I've seen the truth on the video, it is you who is twisting it. I won't be looking at your findings as you have a habit of twisting people's words.

This will be my last word (to you), so you got something right.

I would. 3D didn't take off, end of story, it failed, being someone up on the latest and best physical media (ha) you'd think you'd know that. It's dinosaur tech for dinosaurs. I thought you were ahead of the curve? Really you're just opposed to change, stuck in your ways. Practically an old man.

No Vilya you are never wrong! And you can't leave things alone, you have to interject and you have to go on and on... until you are proven right, even when you're wrong, which is quite clearly the case now. You have a superiority complex and my initial impression (about you) when we fell out the first time was correct. You won't leave it, I know, so talk to yourself. Okay now that's my last word.

Vilya some people think coming up with the most ridiculous excuses makes them look smart.

In my bed room, I have my old 3d projector, my old receiver, my old 3d BD player and an old universal remote that I bought in the 90’s at RadioShack for under 20$

I'm not sacrificing any quality, as seen on the video and no doubt he (a professional calibrator) was watching on 65 inch TV screens. He was also using the best UHD player on the market by the way and OLED TV's. I'm watching on 55 and 50 inch screens. He couldn't tell the difference at normal viewing distance and neither can I. Bottom line, streaming is much, much cheaper and more convenient- for the same picture quality. Sound is a different matter (much better on disc) but then I don't care about sound quality. It sounds great to me.

I'll answer the other posts later, absolutely knackered atm.
Careful associating “Professional Calibrator” with the term “expert”. People in that category vary from being trained industrial experts with various test equipment to just certified professional categories. It’s like comparing a cert to a degree in actuality. People of that latter usually get their training from attending some limited time certification program, instead of being someone who worked in broadcasting industry that is a expert with television imagery, or close association with them to the degree you are a lot more knowledgeable then some big box store TV calibrator.

The mere fact that he makes a effort to educate/entertain viewers via YouTube is more of advertisement then a proclamation that everything is factual. He’s made lots of assumptions, later on he corrects himself. But to use one of his observations as a basis of saying streaming looks the same as physical media is just laughable. It should only be from yourself to state that mostly based on you own observations. Because people like myself have a close relationship with this on a day to day basis using similar gear and don’t ever make comments that they appear to be the same at normal viewing distances. It to the point of almost silliness to argue a trained eye doesn’t note differences with increased artifacts associated with increased compression with streaming along with deceased detail. If it about the same for you, it means you need better gear!

Sigh, I'm wasting my time . What ever I say, you will twist it and tell half truths or just tell plain lies so that physical media comes out on top. No one can come into this thread because if they do and dare to state a love for digital you attack them! As does Steedeel and the other lurkers in here.

In the end there was / is one voice of reason in this thread and their name is alchav21 They have the guts to go against the curve.

Enjoy your physical media.

You are wasting your time too but my time is precious. I'm out.
Alchav is seldom a voice of reason, but he is much better equipped to have a discussion with others of a different opinion than you are. He does not get upset like you do over nothing at all. He has the strength of his convictions that does not require the endorsement of others and despite some earlier trolling he has never gotten as angry as often or as easily as you do.

When I state something as a fact I offer citations for it; I always have. If you choose to ignore that citation or disagree with it, that is another one of your choices.

Using both while preferring one is not fanaticism, it is simply that: a preference.

I state my preference and why. I state what I like and what I dislike about streaming. I do not care what other people do. How many times have I told you, and others, to enjoy your own choices? But your choices are not my choices. I am not trying to convert you; why are you trying so hard to convince me?

If you are getting as mad as you sound, you should take a break. None of this is worth getting upset about and neither of our comments in any way prevents the other from enjoying this hobby as we each choose.

If 3D is "dead" how is that I am still buying new release movies on the format?

Frozen II and Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker get 3D releases on April 20th.

Hyperbole never advances anyone's argument.

It failed commercially at home, sure. Yet I have still been able to enjoy the format for 10 years. I wouldn't change a thing. I imagine I will still be enjoying my 3D titles 5 years from now. They aren’t going away.

I love the latest and greatest but I’m interested in Progress quality wise, , not going backwards. I have the best, I’m not giving it up.

I will tell you something else. If you won the lottery tomorrow, you would have a HT room with hundreds if not thousands of discs. You would have a projector and Dolby Atmos. I know this by the manner of your replies. We are dealing with the green eyed monster here.

I'm not mad at all, in any way, perfectly calm. It's just there's no point talking to you any more, you're a physical media fanatic and any time any one wants to talk about digital, including Alchav, you shoot them down and you all gang up on them and it comes across as bullying. I show you a video that shows there is no difference at normal viewing distance, and you refute it. I should have known I was wasting my time. Bottom line is, I will be saving money and space in my house and it will be less stress. The picture quality is amazing on Apple 4K and only the pickiest or pickiest people could tell a difference.

If it comes across that I am losing my temper with you, it is because you and others are being sarcastic and flippant in response. You are also shutting down any opinion that goes against physical media because I get it you're biased. You're fanatical about physical media and film. You've made that perfectly clear. You've also made it so I have to reply to you again because you can't leave it alone. Sigh. What a huge waste of time. Then forums and social media are, in one ear and out the other, onto the next page, where all this will be forgotten about.

I could buy all of that stuff NOW. I have more than enough money, but I don't waste money unlike all of you. That's why I have money. Duh. I don't need or want that stuff. Steaming is the NOW, not the future, the NOW, I am up to speed already, thanks. I'm sure that selling 300 4K discs will pocket me some extra spending money too.

No one has been calling anyone names here except for you. No one has been disparaging anyone here except for you.

You have a problem getting along with people whose opinions differ from your own. Your very recent tussle with GeoffD, one of the most liked members on these forums, was proof enough of that. Had he reported you for your comments, you would have been on another time out. GeoffD, to his great credit, was too much of a gentleman to do so. During your silly exchange with him you threatened to pick up your marbles and go home never to return again, but here you still are.

Your "last word" has more sequels than any Disney franchise.

All you have to do is place me on "ignore." It is that simple.

I am only responsible for my posts, not those of anyone else. I use both discs and streaming with a strong preference for the former. It is not that hard to comprehend.

You use streaming because you get it free because that is what it's worth. Your words. You have a go at anyone who claims to like digital, waiting to pounce on them in this thread.

I retired at age 44; I think my financial planning is pretty solid.

Spending my money on things that I enjoy is not a waste; it is me rewarding myself for making so many good decisions.

We only have your word for that! Technically I retired at age 28, I won't go into details (buying and selling houses) it would bore you.
