Hmmm..... I am seriously thinking that may be a very viable option.

Considering the Focus 140s from Dyn are $2100/pr and if I could get the Rainmakers and Rainmaker center for less then that.... I may just do that... and then get stands and earthquake putty. Who knows, I may be able to get the Hawks some time in the future even from agon or something.....
Not sure you will like the Hawk lol defenetely brighter than the Rainmaker for some odd reason even if they are supose to be part of the same family, the 2 are quite different even in the X-over the Rainmaker uses a more complex X-over than the Hawk. I will have to reaudition both side by side but you could go Forest.

The 140 would probably compare more to the Model One Sig. at 2400$

Now I really need some sleep lol, it's June 24 here already.

well, lets say this, if I can get a bookshelf that is as good or better then the Staffs with a very good center channel, I would be super happy.... its all about Price/performance ratio..... so we will see what to do when that time comes....

I will still have to compare the Excite X22 Cen and the X16s to whatever I decide to buy..... and anything else I find worth auditioning....

but now you have given me some good things to think about.

Good night Oliver.....

The Veritas were top of the line, if you can get them at the price of RC-70s they would make great fronts. On the other hand, you would have RC-10 as surrounds and also an RC-LCR as center? The RC-70s would go great with those (it's what I run) and (I assume) would be new with a warranty on them. Though I have heard others say the RCs play well with the Veritas line.

What about RC-50's? Anyone have any experience with them? Eventually I will be moving my RC-10's to the rear. My next purchase will be the LCR for center, but down the road I would definitely like to place towers up front. My RC-10's are doing a fabulous job, but of course can't compete with towers, especially on the bass end.
By the way, I've been listening to various types of music through the RC-10's (about 50 hrs on them now), and these boys were made for Jazz music. I was listening to Diana Krall last night and couldn't help but crank these things up, and wow, Christian McBride's bass, Dianna's vocals, along with piano and sax sound amazing through these. After listening to a good quality Jazz recording, everything else seemed to sound horrible...LOL.

EDIT: Oh guys, additionally, something strange happened last night. As I was listening the right speaker suddenly stopped playing. I wiggled the wires on the back and it began to cut in and out. I removed the wires and re-secured them again, and they are playing fine again. I found it strange because the wire was secure both times, so I'm not sure if it's the wire itself, or if there is something internally inside the speaker that is losing connection with the posts. I'm going to get new wires for sure, but this one has me scratching my head.

The RC-30s are one sale right now too... you can get them for less then half..
http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=ENRC30

Miker... This is what happened last time they went to a new line, they kept putting speakers on sale at really low liquidation prices, then they anounced the new lineup and all their speakers went on liquidation, first it was the C-300s which I own, then a few months later the C-500s went too.... The RC-LCR when it goes, it will go fast, just like the C-C100, so once you see it at $300-ish... you need to jump on it fast, trust me there are people out there still looking for the C-C100 center....

When the Rosenut and Cherry colors went on sale they were $299, $399, $599 each, so a pair cost you the same as 1 speaker list. When it comes it will come fast and furious.

As far as the connection issue, I cannot help, but you could open the driver and look down in there to see if there are any issues.... and contact the dealer so they are aware.

This is it a sweet deal and they really are starting to get rid of the black ash as I had mentionned RC-30 and RC10 have completely disapeared from the shelves in Canada.

Thanks, I just emailed support at Energy to see what they would suggest. In the mean time I will purchase some new wire. That may be my problem.

Yea, the RC-50 might just be overkill for me. The 30's may do the trick. Just checked out the specs and they look nice. Of course I can't spend any more money for a while. Too much uncertainty in the job area still. thanks for your helpful input as usual guys.

Thanks BigAl. Once I replace all the old speakers with Energy's it will be just right. It will take time, but it's getting there. I'll keep my sub though; it still sounds great.

Oh, and I love your setup too. It's fantastic. Gives me something to aspire to.

Well, all you guys are very knowledgeable, and I've learned so much in the past month on this forum. I've been having my current setup for about 13 or 14 years, and until I came here I had never even heard of stuff like Timbre matching before. LOL.

Any Canadians looking for RC-70's they're on sale now(Black only) for $749.99 each until Canada Day. $1000 off for the pair is a sweet deal! These don't go on sale here too often.

Plus free shipping and 30 day return policy from Futureshop no questions asked! Can't go wrong with that deal. That's probably an average price in the U.S. but not here.

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...8d61300715en02

RC-LCR $280 off @ $469.99..

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...782b2deebeen02

And RC-R surrounds $300 off the pair @ $249.99 each.. WICKED surround speakers.. best bipoles/dipoles I have owned so far!!

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...104549fdb9en02

A full setup minus the sub for less than a pair of RC-70's at MSRP!!

Sweet deals to be made all Energy speakers are on sale now so if you cant afford the RC-70 you can always get a pair of CF-50 for 600$ thats 200$ cheaper than the US price at BB and 300$ off of regular price at FS here in Canada.

That sounds much like the deal I got last August on my speaker system. I feel like a got a great deal on my RC-70s last summer - US$499 each more than half off. The RC-LCR was $349; and a pair of RC-10s as well as an ESW-V10 were all just $299. Suddenly, last August I had put a speaker system together for more than half off the US MSRP. I was just about ready to put together an Aperion system which would not have been as good as an Energy RC-30 system for a bit less; but suddenly I had speakers which continually amaze me day after day.

I'm thrilled using my RC-10's as fronts so for. I'm a little over 80 hrs on them now and they are fantastic. My old Onkyo receiver has a control on it called "Selective Tone," and when activated it pushes the highs and lows a bit more. I find it makes them sound a bit fuller, for lack of a better word. I watched I Robot and Tears of the Sun with them yesterday and they performed brilliantly.

I'm looking forward to building up my system, slowly of course. I really like what I've heard from the RC series so for.

Miker, you do know that is artificial sound that your introducing to them..... I have to admit, Energy is not known for deep bass or forward highs. My fears is that they are not the exact speaker you are looking for. Linear speakers are not going to be super dynamic, for that the Monitor Audio RX2 or B&W 685s would be better choices. However, Equalize the speakers to your preference...
