They recently re-released the Original Trilogy Limited Edition DVDs in a boxset and you can find them for about 15 pounds now, same with the Prequel Trilogy, with the original 2 disc releases of them. I bought them both last year, 30 quid for 12 discs with all the extras, and I have the 4th disc from the original DVD boxset separately on its own, so I pretty much have the complete set. Look out for the new boxsets, they do have slim DVD cases and can be a pain to get the cases out of, but incredible value for money.

Interesting how I bought my first Star Wars media in the form of the Digitally Remastered VHS editions 17 years ago when the family got our little dog Tim!
Remember watching, whilst he was curled up on my knee as a puppy.

And here we have the new Bluray realese, and it was the same week we had to put him down but he was over 17 though. Great age for a dog!

I would like the full boxset of this, but not rushing, but I am waiting till its a tad cheaper, which I think it will be in 6 months or so.

"light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation"
I didn't know that either . So cool!

Not another penny!

Click for info and larger:

The best special features are on the DE LD, the Executor and the 'bonus' disc on the non-LE DVDs. That bonus disc has the best documentary yet on the original films, the 2½ hour Empire of Dreams: The Story of the 'Star Wars' Trilogy. These extras on the very old releases are a must-have for none-CGI fans because they're in a universe where only the theatrical cuts existed. There was no CGI and crap remakes/reboots.

Hey, it's great fun loving the original Star Wars and none of those sets were even close to being expensive. Nice collectibiles. It's just unfortunate we don't have HD copies of the theatrical films.

I think George has psychopathic tendencies -there's no other diagnosis having looked at his descriptors. He's cold, ignores people, thinks he knows best, surrounds himself with fanboys and when you see him pictured in that 2010 'meeting' with his yes-people, inbred CGI-ers and minions he actually looks like he's become his own creation, the Evil Emperor. He does have his own universe, indeed he does.

Enjoy your money George and remember you can't take it with you when you leave this universe.

Are some bonus features only on the DVD versions still? I really thawt all that stuff would be on the new Blu-Ray boxset aswell!
This is why I regret selling my prequel DVDs and why I'm hoping they'll release an ultimate edition sometime so I can double dip.

I'm still having no joy from Paypal after that listing was removed.

I've emailed them twice and both times got a copied and pasted description of the dispute process from their website rather than anything relevant to my case, so I phoned them and managed to speak to someone in the dispute dept (after a confusing exchange with the Indian call centre worker who first answered the phone).

Apparently, not only have I got to wait until Friday to raise my dispute to a proper claim, but it'll take at least another 11 days after that for Paypal to get involved as that's how long the seller has to answer the claim.

I don't understand why they're messing me about when everyone else seems to have been refunded automatically.

I'm in the same boat. I can't believe some got theirs sorted straight away. It's really frustrating. Did you get a shipment email from deastham?

Yeah, I got the shipment email. It came two days after I asked him for a refund.

I've noted the fact that the item is being shipped from Hong Kong and not the UK as stated in the original listing in my dispute.

I've sent him another email asking for a refund, as the guy from Paypal recommended, but since he's already shipped the set (or claims to) I doubt he'll comply.

I am currently watching Empire Strikes Back and noticed some stuttering during the scene when Luke is recovering in the hospital on Hoth. This is the only time i've seen this happen. Anyone else had the same problem? Is it a fault of the disc? My player (Sony s360) is fully updated with the lastest firmware.

Also don't forget that in Revenge of the Sith you can see the Millenium Falcon entering at the bottom of the screen at 0:23:52

In the prequels, I've noticed some white dots/spots/pixels (?) in some scenes. Could someone confirm that they saw them too? Can't be my tv or blu-ray player, tested it on 3 tv's and 3 blu-ray players..! Is there something wrong with the discs? The white dots have appeared on other blu-ray discs too so I think it's actually supposed to be like that... but I really don't hope so..

Try the scene where Obi-Wan fights Grievous. Exactly at 57:50 are the white dots I've seen throughout the movies, these appear mostly in ROTS.

Clear this up for me.

In ANH, Lucas basically made Lukes' saber green in all the scenes it has (all 2 of them ).

Does that also mean that Lukes' saber has been changed from blue to green in ESB? It's the same saber, and I know that it can be explained away by a Jedi having something on his saber that allows him to choose the colour, but if that option doesn't exist (I don't follow the Star Wars universe outside of the movies and a few games), then it's very p*ss poor continuity on Lucas's part.

And no, I don't have the boxset, and won't be getting it until it drops in price.

His saber always looked blue to me in ANH. Except for that one very split second moment onboard the Falcon when it looks sligtly greener than blue.

Unless your talking about the messed up colour from when they did the DVDs.

I could've sworn that I read somewhere that it was changed from blue to green for the blu-ray set.

And yes, I am aware of the messed up colour from the 2004 DVDs. When you've watched the 2004 DVDs as much as I have, you tend to notice all the little errors.

To expand on my last post heres the same scene of Lukes saber in all the different versions. I dunno Billz. I've watched ANH 3 times now (because I'm sad and watched it with both commentaries ) And it is blue. At least to my eyes. I'm about to watch EmpireAgain now, but I swear it was blue there too

And this is the breif scene in the BD that has the old "green" tint as on the DVD

It was a green as Fellowship.... they've changed it for one shot, it was an awful fix on the DVD where it moved around the hilt of the lightsaber. Picture from here.

I haven't been following this thread but was wondering for those that have, has anyone reported problems with their disc's? Trying to figure out if it's my disc or player and if i should send it back for a replacement.

I've had a problem with stuttering on my PC with the menus on the first two bonus discs but it's okay after the first time of viewing of the session.

Obviously something to do with loading the menus in the background which my quad-core can't handle

What sort of problems have you been having?
