The Vanguard stuff is sold by the vendor right by where you get your ship in
the tower.

They aren't free either, you have to hit lvl 5 then you need to buy each weapon.

I'm guessing you guys already know by now but thought it would be worth replying in case others have the same question.

This game seems like such a closed experience so far, unless you're with friends.

I didn't fall for the hype for this game. I played the alpha about 8-10 hours and enjoyed it a lot to start with then got a little samey. The beta I only played for a few hours, and so far the game is exactly the same. I guess I have to just power through and get to the new stuff and hopefully it gets better. I don't regret buying it so far, but its definitely not GOTY or GOAT for me at the moment.

I expected a super open world, rich will content, explore loads of different cities on Earth, Mars, Venus and other planets. But its nothing like that.. I'm sure stuff will be added with DLC but its just so.. empty at the moment.

I'm glad you can't hear randoms, especially in the Tower. It would be a nightmare if every single person up there could be heard chatting. Although after playing for a fair few hours no one seems to be using headsets anyway.

First time I went to the PvP only Control was open, after 6 matches there the other 4 or 5 opened up.

I hate that you get taken back to Orbit too, but mainly because the load times between going there and waiting to go to your next location are so long. You can always go back to the locations from the missions in free roam though if you fancy exploring them.

I have yet to find any new areas in Old Russia though. I think I went everywhere in the Alpha/Beta. I even went through the dark open area after the shipyard where there's a bunch of lvl?? eveywhere and then there's a crazy alien thing that spits some sort of acid substance out of it's spout just before you go inside a cave.

If you are lucky enough to make it through the cave you just end up back at the other end of the map. I don't believe there are any locations on Old Russia that weren't already in the Alpha/Beta. So I don't know why Bungie said there were.

I think the limit per world must be less than 24. I think it's probably more like 12, which would be 4 fireteams of 3. That's why it's so sparse. And I don't know if you've noticed but if you follow a random and they pass in to a different area of the map they will disappear. Unless you'e in a fireteam I always lost the other person when crossing the invisible barriers that separate areas of the map.

Hey quick question. I redeemed the code for the Valkery Armory. However where in the game do I go to claim that stuff? It told me in the PS Store that the code had been redeemed. However I don't see any of that stuff in my inventory. What do I have to do get all of that stuff?

We all will, that's a story mission, level 20-22? Not sure, but it's a higher level mission.

The Crucible does not allow gear advantages btw, only in Iron Banner. In the Crucible right now, all values are scaled down so you are on equal footing.

Obviously you would want to chose the correct weapon type for your play style in the Crucible, but for all intents and purposes, you are on par with everyone else.

So all weapons are equal in damage? Only difference I assume is stuff like rate of fire and reloads?

Yeah I was level 4 at the time and I was able to take care of the Dregs outside the cave but everything inside was soaking up bullets and grenades like Brawny towels. Only after dying about half a dozen times did I notice their levels were level 20

That is how I understand it to be yeah. Same with armor.

While there may be no gear advantages, this has to apply only at the base level. There will be advantages related to upgraded skills, some of which confer better armor, better grenades, special attacks, ammo capacity, etc. The level 20's are definitely harder to kill and easier to get killed by, so there is some advantage. That said, It's not nearly the difference you encounter going against non-player enemies in the game, so the field has been leveled substantially.

Yeah I wish the game would be clearer about things like this, I haven't stepped into the Crucible yet though, but it is a point of confusion for sure.
