Mobcast's Evangelion Battlefields smartphone shooter game launched its second season on Thursday, introducing a new pilot character named Kotone Suzunami. The character is voiced by Megumi Han.

Kotone is described on game's website as follows: "A new pilot who suddenly appeared at NERV. She is a classmate to Shinji and the others and refers to them as 'senpai.' Her cheerful personality has made her online streaming videos popular."

A NERV operator and counselor character named Hitomi Amagi, a game-original character introduced in the first season, also became a playable support character in the second season. The character is voiced by Mai Nakahara.

The game launched on April 2 for iOS and Android devices. The story is set in Tokyo-3, and features various Evangelion units in combat against each other. The game will include material from the Rebuild of Evangelion films.

The game also has a special "lead controller" that allows players to control the game. The game will link to figures of various characters from the franchise. Players will be able to attach figures to the lead controller and use the characters in the game. More figures featuring additional characters will debut with updates.

Well not to belittle Anno but he lets his work performance suffer because of his clinical depression slumps he falls into - and according to peers and industry professionals - they're frequent.

Other projects (Shin Godzilla) doesn't account for taking 8 years to make an anime, that's just flat-out a product of unwillingness.

Anno should retire when 3.0 + 1.0 comes out. 8 years for one anime film is ridiculous.

Well The Tale Of The Princess Kaguya movie also took 8 years to make. But that was probably just being difficult to make.

He's got Shin Ultraman lined up as his next directorial effort. The man just turned 60, but I don't want age or depression to stop him from creating. I'm ready for him to move on from Evangelion.

Still better to not go there because it never ends well when someone says they hate Dubs. Ends up being a whole debate without a point.

Wish I could queue up all the posts from experts that said there was never going to be an English NGE blu-ray set in the near future.

I mean, by all means buy this one if it comes out first. But I can't believe that people are still questioning whether there will be a US release. It's only a matter of time.

A lot of the time I preferred the Netflix, but I grew up with the ADV dub, and Alison Keith, Amanda Winn-Lee and Tiffany Grant’s performances are intrinsically linked to the roles for me.
I agree that the Netflix dub is pretty solid overall, but it is sadly ruined by the "Third Children" crap mentioned above and that all the voice actors were directed to pronounce NERV as "Ne-air-f", which they all say A LOT throughout the series.

I mean who's the ******* who came up with this ****ing garbage?!?

The ADV dub is a product of its time, and it sounds amateurish in places by modern standards, but it had so much more energy with more distinctive-sounding voices. The show just came alive better with that dub. The only voice I prefer in the Netflix dub is Shinji. Pretty much everyone else just sounds bland and unmemorable, and the script adaptation is completely lifeless. It's similar to Sailor Moon's rather bland redub.

Manga's dub for the movies was produced by Gaijin Productions, which is Amanda Winn Lee and Jason Lee's production company. ADV technically had nothing to do with it, even though most of their cast were brought back. Many of them were actually flown to LA to record instead of Houston (although some recording was done there, and I believe Allison Keith recorded out of NYC, where she was living at the time). It was also a union (SAG) project. The dubs sound decent, although I'm not a fan of the changes made to the SFX, etc.

ADV did do the director's cut episode redubs though.

Khara let FUNimation include their original subtitle translation for 3.33 alongside their own, so they might allow the ADV dub to be included alongside the Netflix dub. It's hard to say what went on behind-the-scenes, and who has the rights to release what. I've also seen theories that ADV owns their own dub to some degree (which would be unusual, seeing as how many of their other dubs have been reissued by other labels). Maybe Netflix wanted a new dub, and Khara just went along with it because they have to be involved with any new dubs and translations. It's hard to say. Either way, there's an audience for both dubs, so why not include them?

Man, I'd kill for Eva on BD with the ADV subs (and constant Flights to the Moon). I'd be much less enthused for Netflix/Khara subs.

Doesn't FUNimation own the license? They do for the newer movies at least.

FUNi has the habit of replacing genuine grain with artificial grain so if they are the ones, sigh.

I think they've only added fake film grain to Cowboy Bebop TV series and the DBZ 30th Anniversary set.

That said, I don't trust Funi with anything that has film grain.

"Only" as if it's not that bad or a big deal. Doing so ruined the authentic picture quality.

I’m not super well versed, but I assume this is Region B and will have to be imported? Region B is no problem for me as I’m region free though price could be a issue

Never actually said ADV Dubbed the Manga Entertainment version. Only that it was almost the same cast.

It will undoubtedly be B-locked.

AL might screw up the locking but I'd imagine that they'll be under a lot of pressure to ensure that they don't.
