Meh, the price isn’t that bad for the carrier. And I don’t think I’m as picky as some people on here in terms of Blu ray issues. I remember everyone going nuts complaining about how bad Hell Night looked, when SF released it. I honestly didn’t think it looked bad at all. We will see.

I wonder how Vinegar Syndrome would've handled a film like God's Bloody Acre with all the print damage, color, grain and other faults to deal with. Those guys work wonders with this forgotten stuff but I think they would've throw in the towel and just released a DVD. It still would probably look better than anything that's available now. I'm going to wait until a few more brave souls weigh in before taking the plunge.

Regarding Hot Moves, I think he meant in terms of the movie itself. He didn't like it and doesn't think anyone else will. It's not the best 80's teen sex comedy ever made but I found it enjoyable enough to upgrade from my DVD. I even sold my DVD copy for a healthy profit. What's not to like about a bunch of good-looking teens romping on a beach? As far as the PQ I thought it looked great.

I thought he was referencing the DNR/PQ on The Carrier.
I actually really enjoyed Hot Moves!

i think you nailed it - i could see this, with all the reported issues, being a DVD only release that i would buy on Black Friday for $7. i'd be okay with that

He didn't edit Hot Moves out of the post he quoted so I assumed he was referencing both.

They’re both blind buys regardless. But yeah, I don’t expect much. I’m sure they will be fun though.

A lot of new phones will over saturate or add fake "HDR" to images.

On the topic of those films, how many of you have seen films from the 70's and 80's projected in 35mm when they haven't been taken care of? I guess I personally keep my expectations in check when I see "taken from 35mm print". I saw Creepshow last fall and the entire film was tinted pink/red, the scenes were almost inaudable and unwatchable at reel change due to scratches on film.

Yeah, I just checked my disc. From my screen (ignore the glare coming in from my window).

Sheesh! Slasherdisc, you should delete your post, as you are wildly misleading people on how this disc looks!

I was interested in buying it, but when I saw your pics, I had reservations - very glad that Val Lewton posted proper pics!

I've seen a lot of films in the theatre. Most of them have some sort of damage, such as minor scratches. Some of the prints I've seen were in great condition. In April I saw the Hammer film Brides of Dracula on 35mm. I thought it looked great considering it was from 1960. Hardly any fading or noticeable damage. I recently saw Maniac Cop on the big screen and the print looked almost flawless. When I saw Messiah of Evil the print was nearly unwatchable - just completely faded red and in rough shape. Still, I knew I'd seen a great film.

I'm grateful to the people that are willing to work with meager elements to give us the best presentation possible. In many of these instances it's the only way that anyone will ever get to see some of these rare films.

I have to say, I don't care for the constant negative reporting on all of these releases for Dark Force. Some people clearly have an axe to grind and too much time on their hands. I implore you all to please not repeat bad intel because it's misleading and frankly, annoying. I've enjoyed the drive-in series that Dark Force has been putting out. I will reserve my judgement on God's Bloody Acre / So Sad About Gloria until later when I've actually watched it myself.

The print used here is beat up, smelly, and disintegrating. That said, it's very watchable and a considerable upgrade over the DVD. This is probably the best the film will look, it's very unlikely that someone has access to better materials. The people claiming that this was DNR'd to death are also incorrect, btw. I haven't had a chance to watch this all the way through yet, but I'm satisfied with my purchase.

What the heck! Val’s pics look completely the opposite of what i viewed last night. Well like Ruined said you can’t really go by screenshots done by phone so best you all just buy it and judge for yourself.
