I just don't want to see the ducks vs. TCU/Boise if either of those small schools make it a big12 or sec team needs to be in other wise its a joke.

I'd have to agree. Can't say I'm sold on Oregon at all yet. So far Oregon is 6-0 but only one of those six teams (Stanford) even has a winning record. Thing is their remaining schedule is pretty weak too. The only potentially tough games they have left against ranked teams are vs. Arizona and @Oregon St. Honestly their schedule this year isn't THAT much more difficult that Boise's.

You know what man, if a Boise State/TCU title game is what it takes for us to get a real playoff system, then I'm all for it. (Someone has to be the sacrificial lamb) Having said that, I do think Boise State is worthy of the title game in the current system we have. TCU, on other hand does not belong there. An Oregon/Boise State title game would be a hell of a game, both teams can light up a scoreboard.

No matter what we won't have a playoff before 2014 because that's when ESPN's contract to televise all the BCS games ends (with the exception of the Rose Bowl which airs on ABC). There's no way there will be any extreme change during the current contract. Possibly we could get some kind of plus 1 system before 2014 but definitely not a full-blown playoff.

.....unless a new contract is hammered out before the deadline. At this point, I don't see another network competing with Disney's resources to snag BCS broadcast rights from them; the only factor to be determined is the agreed upon sum between both parties.

I'm very well aware of that, I just want college football to have a real playoff system after the current contract expires. Even if the BCS ends up going with a plus one scenario to try and get a new contract past 2014, that would be a huge mistake and injustice to college football fans across the country. If nothing else, the NCAA should look at it from a financial standpoint, an eight or sixteen team playoff system would make them even more than they earn now. Money talks. You take all the conference champions and then a couple wildcards, and then the games decide the rest. I just don't know what to do with the growing number of independent teams, teams like Notre Dame, BYU, and Navy shouldn't be independent.

This just in, Minnesota has fired coach Tim Brewster. There was no question that Brewster was going to get fired but I figured he'd last the season. Co-offensive coordinator Jeff Horton will be the interim coach.

Seeing as Dungy will be offered the job after the season and likely decline it, who do you see as potential replacements for Brewster? Unfortunately for Minnesota they aren't the program they were under Mason, so it's going to be a project.

Dungy has already said he's not interested in the job, and I believe him. I've read that his wife hates cold weather and would never live in Minnesota. I think Dungy would maybe consider some sort of ambassador/mentoring program with the team but not a full-time job. Dungy will likely be on the search committee for a new coach.

I've read that former Gophers quarterback Marc Trestman is the Gophers top choice if Dungy isn't interested. Trestman is currently the coach of the CFL's Montreal Alouettes and led them to a Grey Cup title in his first season and a runner-up finish in his second season. His team is currently 10-4 this season. I wonder how the alumni would react to another coach without much college coaching experience though, as that was the big concern when Brewster was hired. Houston's Kevin Sumlin is a possibility, as he is a former Gopher assistant and Houston has a high scoring offense that would excite fans. TCU coach Gary Patterson is a possibility as well, but I'd consider him a long shot. One name I'm just throwing out there is Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. Dungy has been lobbying for him to get a head coaching job for years but Frazier hasn't coached in college since 1998 and might not be interested in a college job.

In the end this could come down to how much Minnesota is willing to pay. It's a tough job trying to rebuild a program in the tough Big 10 with Nebraska joining next year but the Gophers have a new stadium and are in one of the Big 10's biggest cities so if they find the right coach they could become a power again.

The thing is it probably wouldn't. It would do the opposite. If a TCU-Boise national title game happened the BCS jerkoffs would just use it as an example of why the current system is to awesome and "fair to the little guys."

How about Miami firing Shannon and hiring Dungy? Just a thought.

I would love that, but I don't see Dungy returning to coaching.

Here's something amusing. The Florida Gators, with an extremely disappointing year, have a game at home later this year to #1 ranked I-AA powerhouse Appalachian St. Wonder if App St. can pull of a shocker like they did to Michigan several years ago.

What is the quarterback situation like behind Brantley? You have to think Urban Meyer has to be disappointed at how poorly he has developed thus far for the Gators.

As bad a football story as it gets.

Rutgers' Eric LeGrand paralyzed

Rutgers junior defensive tackle Eric LeGrand, who was seriously hurt in the Scarlet Knights' 23-20 overtime win over Army on Saturday, has suffered a spinal cord injury and is currently paralyzed below the neck, the school announced on Sunday.

Emergency surgery to stabilize LeGrand's spine was performed Saturday night at Hackensack University Medical Center. LeGrand is in the intensive care unit there, and will remain there for at least the near future.

"Eric, his family and the Rutgers football family believe he will recover," said Rutgers coach Greg Schiano. "We ask our fans and the entire Rutgers community to believe and pray for Eric as he begins the recovery process."

The injury occurred with just over five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter of Saturday's game, just after Rutgers had scored a touchdown to tie the game at 17. LeGrand was attempting to make a tackle on the ensuing kickoff, and was involved in a violent collision with Army's Malcolm Brown. LeGrand lay motionless on the field for several minutes before being carted off.

Schiano said he spent the night at the hospital, along with LeGrand's family, several teammates, and other friends. "Eric's spirits were as good as you can expect," Schiano said. "He's a fighter."

Just looked it up and the other four QB's on Florida's roster are freshmen. Trey Burton is their #2 QB right now and he actually does have 8 touchdowns this year rushing from games where the Gators were winning in blowouts. It's very possible he starts getting more playimg time. Local newspapers in central Florida are already calling for Brantley to be benched.

If Miami doesn't win next week against North Carolina, it'll hit the fan. I'm already tensed up for the game, and it is six days away!

First BCS Rankings are out. Looks like the same old story for Boise St. They are getting killed by the computer rankings due to a poor strength of schedule. Unless there are fewer than two BCS conference undefeated teams left by the end of the season Boise is screwed.

1. Oklahoma .9215
2. Oregon .8921
3. Boise State .8898
4. Auburn .8641
5. TCU .8573

Yeah and OSU drops to 10 just far enough to make a comeback if the SEC teams beat each other up and Oklahoma loses a game.
