I was in Walmart earlier this evening, and they had the shelves cleared out for new releases. When I checked the stickers one of them had listed the Hobbit EE, but when I asked one of the employees if they could retrieve a copy from the back early, they told me they were not allowed too...*sigh*.

Looks like I have to make an extra trip out tomorrow and grab a copy.

did you scan the tags to see what the 2D price was? I'm hoping under the $24.99 everyone else wants to rape us for

I just found it odd I have to wait a week, when I ordered it early, and it's already shipped, so I don't know why I still have to wait a week. It's weird.

Sadly it's still the 24.99 price, I keep hoping it might drop to 19.99 for release day. But either way I plan to pick this up tomorrow, regardless of the price.

Yes I know, there was one other time I found a movie on the shelves before it's release date, and oddly enough it was also at a Walmart. It was Be Cool, sadly when I got to the register, they refused to sell it to me, since it was not in the system yet, even though it was out on the shelves, and there was clearly a tag price that matched the movie.

I have a few reasons myself!

Glad that Amazon dropped the price on the 2D to $19.96 for ten seconds, since I preordered.

I picked up the 3D version at Walmart tonight. The shelf tag read 39.96 but they gladly price matched Best Buy since it technically does say 3D+Blu+UV for 29.99

I see walmart.com posted pictures of their "exclusive" versions. You know, the ones they withheld the images for till release day. wtfwm

I'll tell you this... Best Buy is selling their 3D Steelbook for $29.99. I stopped by Best Buy during the midnight release of COD Ghosts, and I picked up the Steelbook. Luckily, I had a $5 mystery reward zone certificate, and I paid $24.99 for the Steelbook.

I was just at Walmart. They do NOT appear to have an exclusive BD, the only exclusive appeared to be a two-disc DVD version. They even had a display out, and the display specifically mentioned the exclusive DVD, but nothing about an exclusive BD.
So I guess their exclusive is just a slimmed-down, cheaper version of the DVD. It specifically mentioned it had the features "The Company of Thorin" and "Durin's Folk: Creating the Dwarves", meaning I guess those are the only special features on it, since they are both part of the regular extended edition's features.
Oh, and the BD was 19.96, and their exclusive DVD was 17.96. Sorry, I didn't notice the price of the 3D.
