I have watched this show from the beginning although I have really struggled through the last couple of seasons. If Lauren Cohan is also leaving after season 9 (which seems likely at this point) I will give up. With Maggie and Rick gone there is actually not a single character left that I care what happens to them.

That's how I feel. After watching the SDCC trailer I'm really interested in this season, but watching the show without Andrew Lincoln feels like a betrayal to what it once was and what I loved about it.

The interesting thing is, Rick has been in the background lately in most recent comic issues. Hell, he was practically uninvolved when it came to the
[Show spoiler] Whisperer War. Rick sat that War out lol.

While it may be a huge loss for Andrew Lincoln leaving the TV series, I don't think the show can/will survive without Rick like the comics have.

Wow Rick is leaving? Sad. Wish I had not looked in here to find that out. I agree though not sure how to continue on with it after that happens. And admittedly even though I'm a fanatic of the zombie genre and the show. Even watched the first 4-5 seasons three times... And probably will watch it again. Because I want to watch the entire thing on the big theater sized screen inside my VR headset. I started enjoying the show much less after the arrival of Negan. And last season was hard to watch because I'm all for the zombie action and there was just too much of just people running around shooting at people which is always boring to me in any show.

On a side note. I was also starting to really enjoy Fear The Walking Dead. But
[Show spoiler] I'm baffled that they killed off the best characters of the show. Not sure how they are going to continue with it unless maybe they are already planning the shows end.

Prison Negan, Maggie's baby, Rick/Daryl drama, the Whisperers.

Dude. What's not to like about this upcoming season? Looks to be a lot going on, I was more entertained by this trailer than all of Season 7 and 8

Danai on Andrew Lincoln:

I truly believe Andrew Lincoln is the best leading man on TV. He has made us all better with his leadership, dedication, heart, and generosity. I couldn’t be thankful enough for the time I’ve gotten to work with him and learn from him. It’s been an honor, sir. #SDCC #TWDFamily

The trailer does look intriguing but I have to be honest, I need to see what this show is going to be like after Rick is gone, which this trailer gives no indication of. Removing the star character from any series is a recipe for disaster and what really bugs me is that all of these storylines have been set up for Rick to be a major player moving forward. Same is true for Maggie, who could also end up being gone. So I'm not going to be fooled by this trailer.

They aren't trying to "fool" you with anything here. The SDCC trailers have always only used footage from the first few episodes because that's all that is ready to be previewed. Rick doesn't die until after or right at the scenes seen within the trailer, so they literally have nothing to show past his death.

I know...I wasn't saying that they were intentionally trying to fool us. All I'm saying is that the trailer doesn't give an accurate representation of what the show is going to be like after Rick is gone, and possibly Maggie as well. I need to see that first before I get excited about the future of the series and how it might end up being better than what we've been watching the last couple of years.

This show has lost far too many great characters already so when you add in Rick and Maggie, you're really asking for trouble.

The trailer only showed footage from the first 6-8 episodes.

You won't get a proper representation of what the series will be like minus Andrew and Lauren until the second half of the season.

AMC Clears Chris Hardwick to Return to "Talking Dead" after Sexual Assault Claims
by Dominic Patten
July 25, 2018

Days after being absent from his annual duty as moderator for "The Walking Dead" panel at Comic-Con, Chris Hardwick has been given the green light by AMC today to return on-air after allegations of sexual assault and emotional abuse by an ex-girlfriend.

Following a comprehensive assessment by AMC, working with Ivy Kagan Bierman of the firm Loeb & Loeb, who has considerable experience in this area, Chris Hardwick will return to AMC as the host of Talking Dead and Talking with Chris Hardwick,” the cabler said in a statement Wednesday.

We take these matters very seriously and given the information available to us after a very careful review, including interviews with numerous individuals, we believe returning Chris to work is the appropriate step.

The plan is that Hardwick will be back on "Talking Dead" for its August 12 premiere right after the Season 4mid-season debut of "Fear the Walking Dead".

Frequent "Talking Dead" participant and Hardwick’s SDCC panel replacement Yvette Nicole Brown will still front the TWD Season 9 preview special on August 5 and appear as guest on "Talking Dead" the follow week.

No return day for the all filmed Season 2 of "Talking with Chris Hardwick" has been set yet due to scheduling issues I hear.

The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln had a pact to leave with Norman Reedus

Norman said: ‘We made a pact. I think it was like season three or four. We’re like, “If you leave, I leave. Right?” And that was the thing.’ Lincoln, who was also in the interview, asked him: ‘Are you leaving? Is this an announcement? Is this breaking news?’ ‘Oh hell no’, Reedus replied. The pair grew incredibly close on the show and Norman spoke about how he would miss seeing his co-star every day.

Maggie's Fate Revealed

Quote:
It appears Andrew Lincoln won’t be the only major star to leave The Walking Dead in Season 9. It has long been rumored that Lauren Cohan, who has played Maggie since Season 2, will also depart the show after a few episodes this Fall. That’s due in part to Cohan’s loaded slate of other projects, notably her starring role on ABC’s spy dramedy Whiskey Cavalier. As with any pilot we’ll have to wait and see if it gets picked up, but the show will take Cohan out of The Walking Dead for at least a little while.

During the SDCC panel Andrew Lincoln dropped vague hints about Rick’s fate. “My relationship with Mr. Grimes is far from over,” Lincoln said, possibly indicating Rick could leave the show instead of being killed off. Although Cohan is also leaving the show, she made sure to clarify that her character would not be getting killed off. “Maggie’s story is open-ended,” Cohan told Entertainment Weekly Radio. She also discussed the matter on Andy Cohen Live and said, “My Walking Dead story is open, it’s not finished. You don’t break up with someone and forget about them and delete them from your life, no, things transition into different places.

Cohan also addressed her rumored contract disputes with AMC. “It wasn’t actually that I was asking for (a raise), it was that my contract had finished,” Cohan said on Andy Cohen Live. “So that’s pretty standard renegotiation.” Along with squashing rumors about Maggie getting killed off or leaving forever, Cohan made sure to pay tribute to her co-star Andrew Lincoln.

“I remember coming in and being with Steven (Yeun), and both of us sharing that gratitude of having someone like (Lincoln) to guide us,” she told EW. “Because before Walking Dead, I had only done recurring roles in different shows. And to come in and to get the opportunity to be so long on a show that was led so well has set me up as an individual to go forward in my life and my career and my art incredibly well because of you and because of what I learned on the show.”

We may not know how long Maggie will be gone from The Walking Dead, but Cohan expressed gratitude for her time on the show. “I’m so grateful that this has been my stomping ground for so long…and my family here is never gone.” Along with The Walking Dead and Whiskey Cavalier, Cohan will also star alongside Mark Wahlberg in the movie Mile 22, coming out August 2018.

That's the bridge scene from the trailer. I think this is where Rick will be killed. In the trailer, you see a large group of people running behind Rick who's laying on the ground covered in blood.

Nope. Nothing Andrew Lincoln has said implies that.

It's been confirmed Maggie won't die and her story is left open ended for Cohan to return in the future.
