Hate all you want on George Lucas but the one thing that Lucas is credited with revitalizing the sci-fi genre in Hollywood. Star Wars was a film far ahead of its time and it boasted some of the finest special effects of the time.

Star Wars is credited with the resurgence of such films as Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Flash Gordon and original Star Wars film has had such a huge impact on the sci-fi genre that you can't help but be awed at the cultural impact that Star Wars has had on our culture as well as the impact the film has had on the movie industry.

At the time, sci-fi was considered to be dead in Hollywood and the original Star Wars film opened the door for everything that has come after it. You can't ignore the impact the film has had on our culture and in the movie industry, which is why sci-fi films and TV shows are consistently compared to that film.

I do think the "trailer for a trailer" thing is a bit silly, but it's a nice little taste and it's 25 seconds of pure coolness. I can't wait for this movie. I think it's going to do really well.

People usually say of blockbusters that "everything is the same, give us something fresh," and GOTG looks like it will have "fresh" in spades. This movie is going to be something special.
