Hard to believe but Chris Weinke was FSU's QB the last time they were a national power back in 2000. The game that marked their decline was probably the 2000 national title game where they lost 13-2 to Oklahoma. I still can't believe they scored TWO points that game with all their weapons.

The sad part about Miami is with the talent they have, there is no excuse for them to be ranked anything less than top fifteen at the very least. They're a loaded team on both sides of the ball. I really don't understand how Randy Shannon is underachieving yet again with a team chock full of potential and experience.

Also talent evaluation I know Derrick Williams was going to be god like coming out of our area, but at PSU was good but nothing like the hype going into college.

I agree, Randy Shannon is not developing these players very well. I think Mark Whipple's play selection is very suspect as well. So many people around the program talk so highly of Jacory Harris, you have to wonder if he had different coaches around him if he would be a more consistent quarterback with better decision making.

Expecting Oklahoma to get upset this weekend and carry this streak to 3 of the #1 team getting beat the same week they achieve that rank. Also expecting Wisconsin to survive their own potential upset this weekend.

Missouri is a solid team with a fantastic quarterback, but I expect them to lose by at least two touchdowns.

I really wouldn't say "excellent" but they are a good team. Most of their tough games are already behind them. If they can beat Missouri and OK St. on the road they can probably run the table up through the Big 12 title game.

Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who was an assistant under Bobby Petrino with the Atlanta Falcons, absolutely tore into Petrino when talking about him yesterday. Petrino famously left the Falcons with 3 games left in the season to take the Arkansas job, and didn't tell any of his assistants. Some quotes from Zimmer on Petrino:
“He is a coward. Put that in quotes. He ruined a bunch of people’s lives, a bunch of people’s families, kids, because he didn’t have enough nuts to stay there and finish the job. That’s the truth.” When asked if he had seen a two days like that before, where the Falcons lost on Monday Night Football, a coach resigns and then is doing “Woo Pig Sooie” 24 hours later in front of Arkansas boosters, Zimmer said: “No, most people in football have enough courage about them and enough fight to stick through something and not quit halfway through the year. It is cowardly. “He came in and said he resigned, he would talk to us all at a later date, walked out of the office and no one has ever talked to him since. Not that anybody wanted to. “He’s a gutless b—–d. Quote that. I don’t give a s—.” When told that we might might not be able to use the B word, Zimmer went one better: “How about this, gutless MF. You can use that.” http://cincinnati.com/blogs/bengals/...an-of-petrino/ |

Yeah, I initially felt a little sorry for Petrino since when he took the job he had Vick at quarterback and none of the dog-fighting allegations had surfaced, but the way he handled his departure was the most gutless thing I've ever seen in coaching. It's one thing to be like Nick Saban and say you're not going somewhere and then leaving after the season, it's a whole other thing to do what Petrino did and coach a game, resign hours later, and being too gutless to tell your players and assistants. I'll never root for Petrino's teams to have any success.
