Got the Seeing Red set in a few days ago and watched the first two films. I'll post more thoughts when I finish the third, but REALLY liked Shot Pattern (Tir Groupe) and really DIDN'T like Rue Barbare.

Ok, finished the Seeing Red set and let me just share some thoughts. First great package and all the tech specs were fine. Good picture quality and sound with a nice little booklet. As for the films?

Shot Pattern was really good. It's a gritty rape film and feels very realistic overall. This is no Death Wish where the lead guns down a ton of criminals. Hell, the main lead practically does nothing and it's mostly the cops who figure things out, but I still really enjoyed this film.

Rue Barbare, will probably the favorite for most who watch this set, but after Shot Pattern it felt a little too silly and "French"? It's a film that really does cater to French audiences, realism be damned. It has a comic book type feel, but doesn't have the action to go along with it. It's an interesting film with a pretty good score, and I might just not have been in the right mind set, but it didn't work that much for me, but would be willing to watch it again. Also, the final Street Fighter type fight scene is the highlight of the film.

Black List was my favorite of the three films. This one really is a vigilante film where the lead starts taking down the criminals one by one. It's a bloody film where justice is mostly served to criminals and if you're looking for something along the lines of Death Wish, then this film is the one for you in this set.

Overall, great set from FCE and I hope they continue with the French crime films. Now, can someone please hurry up and release Le Choc with Alain Delon?

Thank you very much for your objective review Duke! Your last message had scared me since Rue Barbare is probably the most showed title from this set that i havent watched yet. With all the films i have to watch, im at T.R. Baskin to watch from FCE, im keeping their releases for great days since everything ive seen from them is excellent.

FCE is my favourite small label, the second is Deaf Crocodile but both are quite as good for me. I also have to mention Mondo Macabro but they are way bigger i think.

I was watching a lot of films this winter because i was working as a waiter in a chinese restaurant, i still do but ive started to work again in a plant nursery, selling perenials and trees all day long and working at the restaurant after that, i got less time than ever to watch movies and im recording a lot of great movies on tv so i have to clear my hard drive and watch them first.

In autumn, ill move in another city to go back to school for one year, gardening class, and i wont have tv there so ill have plenty of time to watch my collection haha

This beeing said, im probably gonna watch T.R. Baskin and Duddy Kravitz soon, if i got the chance, im so tired theses days... working 7 on 7, but its great! (Sorry, had to talk about my life hahaha nobody cares xD )

Sounds like you're really going for it. Good luck!

I have

Rancho Deluxe
I start Counting
Handgun

And I love these movies.

I got Married to the Mob as a blind buy, but it didn't really appeal to me.

Which FCE release should I get next?

What is the packaging for Seeing Red? I see it is three movies. Are there three discs, in three cases and a box? Is it just a regular sized case with two or three discs in it?

I really liked T.R. Baskin. I almost let the review on this site turn me off of it but I'm so glad I picked it up. It's got a dry sense of humor that could be off putting but more than makes up for it in the end.

Maybe Alphabet City, Walking the Edge, The Coca-Cola Kid, Cutter's Way. Also both primetime panics are great too. Heartbreakers, Party Girl. (Im kind of listing them all haha nah im skipping some)

On another note, more cute stories, there would be Jeremy that is a funny and really beautiful love story, and Bilitis for sure that made me discover the label.

I think that Alphabet City and Walking the Edge should be good picks for you maybe.

Radiance Films and FCE are putting out a standard edition of Walking the Edge in the UK. According to their website it's Region Free.

Born to Win had a great atmosphere too, and since you liked Rancho Deluxe, Jeff Bridges id one of the main actors of Cutter's Way.

Like Bergman864 said, it looks like the uk release of Walking the Edge was region free on the limited edition with the slipcover so the standard edition should also be region free. It havnt been tested on Bluray.com page yet, only the LE.

Some copy available at regular prices on ebay:

One of Fun City Editions' Facebook posts during the past week that has especially interested me has been about a book that actress Victoria Tennant's character is reading in one scene that isn't a prop book, And Now Goodbye by James Hilton. Have checked Amazon to see if there was a possible re-print of the book, and I can't find anything at the moment.
