Hey Fors, By DD do you mean the Dolby Digital track? There is also a DTS track on War of the Worlds and I would suggest that track instead (the bitrate of the DTS track is at 754kbps on the DVD).

Definitely Tom Cruise. The scene when the pod comes out of the ground has got some serious low frequencies in it.....it will really push your new sub.

Hey I have a question. I love my sub12. But I noticed I have it plugged into the subwoofer on the back of my onkyo, I know I should have it pluged into the pre-out for the sub. But when I do that I don't get any soudns from the sub. Whats up wiht that.
Plus my sub is making some funy noise that I can exactly pin-point as to what it sounds like. It doens't happen al the time and it just started. Any help? I'm thinking it is sounding like it's busting on me But i odn't want to think thats hte case any help please. I've had less then a year.

Have you looked at all your settings? You may need to run audesey again. It may have not sensed your sub since it wasn't plugged into the sub out. I'd run it again and see what happens. I guess you put the cable into the sub plug for the dvd?

In your setup does it show that's there's a sub? Sometimes when I run audesey if I don't have my subs off of auto then the test tones won't wake it up and it won't see it I won't have any bass out of my sub. I'd run audesey again.

OK I'm rerunning the calibration tests witht hemic for the onkyo Audassy. And I foudn something interiesting, when it came to do the subwoofer connected to the pre-out where it's supposed to be, the subwoofer is on, and it doesn't make any noise at all. The speaker make their calibration noise just fin but my sub doesn't could it be that my pre-out isn't working period?

What kind of noise is it? Perhaps the subwoofer is bottoming. A gain of +5dB may be too high. Has your sub stopped working? Are sure you haven't blown your driver?

Well it does work. I am getting bass from it. And unforutnally I can't realy describe the soudn it sometimes makes. The closest thing I can describe is it sounds??? like it's trying to make it work but not fully. And it's only for short periods of time and it's not al the time. I'm goignt o say it KINDA sounds like it's slightly bottoming out but not quite. I don't undestand how it could when I haven't adjusted anything other then volume on the receiver but it's only been adjust by maybe 1-2 lbs at the most. I'd hate to think it's slowly getign blown. By the way i figured out aboutt he pre-out and the multicahnnel deal. Turns out I had it plugged in at the right spot the whole time I just didn't realize I was such an idiot thinking i had it worng. Now I'm just trying to narrow down my wierd sound issue.

It is possible that you damaged the voice-coil from too much excursion or from overheating. Let's hope that didn't happen and maybe something is just set wrong.

but how do I know for sure. Thisis what sucks for me. I do have bass. but at times it does the weird noise. My wife can't tell, but I can. Just all of a sudden it does this weird noise. To bad I cant record it and put it on herr for you guyz to hear it. then again the actual sound will get distorted from the recording.

Try hard to describe it. Is it a burping, farting or thunking sound? When specificaly does it occur? What movies are you watching when it happens, what scenes? How loud is the volume when it happens? What are your current sub settings? What is the sub gain set on? List your speaker settings on your receiver. Give these experts as much info possible so they can help you out. Good luck to you.

Well I finished my recalibration and did a few test runs Blu's with good bass. I have narrrowed it down to.........................it's slowing being blown the sound is gettign worse and yes it sounds like a mixure or farting, bottoming out, and yea justa mixture. Now, how do I get a new one to replace this. I believe it's still under waranty cuz it's an auctistic audio sub and yes I did the e-mail warrnty thing and yes i believe I still have the e-mail thing to confirm I registered it. now what this sucks I guess to get the bass I want I will have to buy another sub like I was gogint to plan on getting.

Let's hope nothing is physically wrong with your driver or amplifier.
  1. Make sure the low pass crossover dial on the back of the sub is at its highest point.
  2. Turn the level on the back of the sub to 60%.
  3. Instead of increasing the gain or the level on the back of the sub, change the location of the subwoofer. Subwoofer placement is an important factor in its performance. Put it in the front corner about a foot away from the walls.
  4. Add some poly-fill to it. Polyfill will lower the tuning frequency of the box and improve the low frequency.
  5. Also, put it on a riser.
  6. Add new legs to the subwoofer cabinet and increase the distance between the driver and the floor or riser.
  7. Run the calibration program again.
