I’m not crazy on Saving Private Ryan, I know it’s going for that whole “war is hell” thing but it works too well as a popcorn blockbuster to be really lecturing about the tragedy and horrors of war.

I don't think that's the point. I think the overall point is that war was completely dehumanizing for the characters. Look at how Hanks is pretty much just dismissive of the guy who removes his helmet on the beach and gets shot again.

He's all about being part of this war and just getting out. His human touch has been lost, and the mission to save Private Ryan is what reinvigorates that within him.

As with almost any war movie the "war is Hell" idea is there, but I really don't think it's the point here. It's more of a motif than a theme.

Saving Private Ryan was excellent in during the taking the beach scenes in showing the horrors of what the men went through. Then it turned into a silly action flick with a ending so syrupy that I almost slipped into a diabetic coma.

I am a big Spielberg fan and the Indiana Jones films are some of my favorite films of all time, along with the Star Wars films.

Personally, I think that Raiders just might be his best film, though Crusade is right up there for me.

The first Transformers movie is not as bad as everyone says it is.

Joe Swanberg, Oz Perkins and Kelly Reichardt are overrated hacks.

The Sopranos had the greatest series finale of all time.
