Infusing is definitely your friend. But not until you get to a high enough light level (around at least 280). But I just don't see spending 150 marks on armor as a good idea. You'll get armor from engrams. Spend the marks on a gun you really want, because those are much harder to come by. And of course, if your ghost she'll is quite low on defense, spend the marks on the 280 vanguard ghost. But yes, infusion is great.

The thing I can't figure out is why rare gear/weapon drops are sometimes in the high 290's but the best legendary gear/weapons I have gotten has been in the 270-285 range. I feel like I have hit the Destiny wall again until I finish the raid and get some of those higher level guns/gear. |

Find yourself using an auto rifle all the time, but the legendary arms you give up faster reload on pulse rifles? No sweat, but some Crucible arms that buff auto rifles, infuse, and done. The new system is must more focused on getting the right abilities in your armor, vs. in yr 1 where you were pretty much a slave to whatever you got with the highest light. |

It's not just about the light level anymore though. If I get raid armor that has crap bonuses, I'm not using it. I'll eat the 2 or 3 light I lose by infusing it into armor I actually want to use.

the first one you have to complete the raid, but the Court of Oryx quest doesn't. You can do all of those by just going to the Court of Oryx while on patrol in the Dreadnaught. You just need to meet up with people who have the runes.

OK, thanks I'll have to look up that Court of Oryx because I don't know how to do that or where to go.

Infusion is the way to go (even early on, if you find a piece of gear with stats you want to keep), and spending 150 marks on vendor weapons is by far the best option we have, even AFTER acquiring raid weapons because some of those are quite simply not up to par.
The Dead Orbit Scout, Hung Jury SR4, is widely regarded as the finest primary in the game due to its stats and perks. It's basically like VoC and Fatebringer had a baby, and that baby grew up to be the best of both of its parents. This also keeps your Exotic slot free, which can be used by either Truth or the (far superior for the raid) Thunderlord. (I was an early adopter, since it was the first weapon I purchased, and I haven't looked back. Mine is currently at 300, and it will be even higher when I get raid weapons to infuse it with.) Next, the Vanguard sniper rifle, 1000 Yard Stare, is widely regarded to be the best sniper rifle in the game, due to its incredibly high impact and the fact that its perks allow you to do MASSIVE damage to Golgoroth (and plenty of other things) in the raid. Then there are The Vanity and The Vertigo from FWC, which are basically a Fatebringer without elemental damage but with higher impact, and an incredible rocket launcher with fantastic perks for any situation. So, yes, spending marks on armor is a waste (unless you want certain stats, and have the blues sitting around to infuse them up to an appropriate level) - but spending 150 on some of these weapons is and will be the best thing you can do with your marks, considering they're a benefit to all of your characters in any given situation, as opposed to armor for just the one. P.S - To give you an idea, my warlock is currently 298, and I haven't spent a single mark on vendor armor or acquired any raid gear. |

So Adam, Andy, and I were wanting to do raid tomorrow night (Monday) at 5:37pm pacific. If you'd like to be a part of our posse, speak up. Must be at least light level 307.58 and have a 170 Gjallarhorn. If you think you have what it takes, come on down and be the next contestant on "Kill Crota's daddy".

While I was on Reddit: Someone built a website where you can see which calcified fragments you've found. If you found the fragments on multiple characters, it won't help you because it's based off of Grimoire cards. Still, I think it might be useful.
