Avengers: Infinity War
(2nd-viewing)

[Show spoiler]Everyone dies. Not really but there's absolutely no way the people who died stay dead because there's a third Guardians of the Galaxy movie and a second Spider-Man: Homecoming. Different people may or may not take over their roles I don't know. Shuri may be the next Black Panther? Speaking of him when I saw T'Challa disappears in to the distance and everybody in the audience gasps I'm thinking from a Disney and Marvel standpoint that's your moneymaker you just got rid of. Did they do that before they knew he was going to bring in billions of dollars. Spider-Man death was an emotional one. Loki bit the dust first but I don't trust that because he died before and came back. Heimdall is gone we see him get killed we see Gamora die, but she can't be died. Pretty sure The Collector is dead. Those are the ones we see get their own individual drive the story forward deaths. At the end of the movie when you see Thanos succeed in collecting all the Infinity stones and snaps his fingers people start turning into ash and disappear that becomes a lot of characters as in Black Panther and Falcon and Spider-Man and Doctor Strange and Star-lord and Drax and Groot and Mantis and Scarlet Witch who gets a much bigger role and Vision gets killed but doesn't disappear. Bucky disappears while Captain America watches and in the stinger at the very end we see Maria Hill disappear and Nick Fury right after hits the beacon which I believe is a nod to Captain Marvel. So amongst the problems or me being mad at the choices made are one when Scarlet Witch destroys the mind stone Thanos uses the time stone and just rewinds and gets it. It was a big plot point in Doctor Strange it had me thinking why didn't he use it more and do whatever he wants and not have the avengers lured in a false sense of victory? The movie wants the power of the shock of killing off half the universe I was like wow they really went there but it took a second and I'm like it cant be true with all the other movies to come. It takes the bite out of that shock but it's still a gut punch. Somethings I like was we got more info on Gamora and her motivations and relationship with her "father" which was an interesting way to show a side of Thanos. He really loves her and shows that love by pushing her off a cliff. Thor's interaction with the Guardians their dynamic works like a fish out of water nature of Thor and the wackiness of the Guardians that is funny. Iron-Man with Doctor Strange are both quick-witted and verbal and it works. I loved that Red Skull came back that was a big surprise. One question what happen to Valkyrie from Thor: Ragnorok ? She was also on the ship in the beginning. Did they kill her off screen? Anyways that all the spoilers I wanted to talk about. This was definitely movie I had to see again there is so much that happens so fast that you can't possibly take it all in so I do think everyone should see it at least two times.

It's obvious, but the Russos confirm what occurred with the snap can be undone (there is no story for Avengers 4 otherwise) but it comes at a "high cost"

http://www.ign.com/articles/2018/05/...ease-directors

Used Movie Pass to do a second viewing of this tonight (obviously standard format this time) and despite being a smaller audience and not opening day, I would say the audience was actually more into it with more laughs and applause at big moments. The ending still doesn't seem to get a great reaction, mostly because I think people didn't realise this was going to be a two parter and end on such a downbeat cliffhanger. Also did hear one person say "Captain Marvel sucks" after the post credits and a woman say she didn't like how it ruined Thor Ragnarok for her, but I think those were less common complaints.

The Mission Impossible, Incredibles 2, Jurassic World, Deadpool 2, and Solo trailers were the same with both screenings (albeit a couple of them being in 3D before), while the IMAX screening had the Venom teaser and Fantastic Beasts, and this one had Adrift.

The dialogue was so on point in this one.

If Whedon was directing this Thanos would still be cracking jokes

Very well done.
Yep. And even when he was giving his speech to Thanos I actually somewhat felt sympathetic to Red Skull for 2 seconds was so good. Again, Marquand did so well I legit thought it was Weaving voicing him. Just as good as the guy that did Alec McGuiness' Ben Kenobi voice in Rebels. Had almost the perfect cadence.

When he said "those aren't for him" in response to Gamora laughing at Thanos' tears.

You can watch this movie with 2 Different Perspectives:

If you look at Infinity War through the heroe's perspective, it feels almost devoid and incomplete.

If you look at Infinity War though Thanos' perspective, it feels so satisfying. Thanos is basically the "hero" of his own movie, and he won, and he got the "sunset" ending that he wanted. Marvel made a villain movie, with the villain winning.

Not as much changed in the new trailer's green-band compared to the last two. I think they purposely designed that new trailer with Avengers in mind. Plus the funniest moments are still there (DC and Thanos references, "studio that killed Wolverine", and Peter).

Zoe Saldana basically confirms that her character is dead for good. She'll be filming Avatar now, won't be in Guardians 3 unless their minor flashback roles my guess.

There is also a video of Tom Hiddleston during a European press junket basically saying goodbye to his character Loki.
