Oh boy, got Dune today. Watched on hbomax, but ready for 3D, too bad no Atmos.

Hi Okie

Could also watch it on HBO Max but would rather wait to first experience it fully in 3D. My copy is expected by Tuesday.

First time watch of Warcraft. Movie was alright but visuals and 3D were great! Glad I got it a few months ago from Hamilton at $6, looks like it's still available. Great deal!

I didn't know that Hamilton had this, it looks like it is not listed as a 3D bluray in their cataloging. Thanks for the link.

Nice collection, your subs are certainly appropriate for SC.

I’m not good at waiting and I did simulate. Later today I’ll let you know who did a better job.

Watched Dune. Like the movie, the 3D is subtle, artistic similar to BR 2049. No excuse for no Atmos. Hopefully not our last 3D release. Recommended

One other comment the sound effects are loud and the talking soft, had to adjust volume on the fly. The little poison " bug" did have a slight pop out.

So, which did it better?

The bad sound mixing sounds (ahem) like it must be the bluray because theatrically the film didn't have the dialogue too soft to hear.

Well, except for when Hans Zimmer decided to crank the volume for the tribal chanting up past 10 in certain scenes.

The 3D disc with 5.1 sound was the best option. 3D was much better and there isn’t a lot of height channel sound on the Blu-ray anyways, so the 5.1 was fine. Volume still needed to be elevated to hear all the dialogue, but not a big deal.

I just bought X Men Apocalypse.
Sadly, the review consensus I got here is it is just medium 3D, am I correct? Not even medium to strong 3D.

I thought was good 3D, not great, but watchable.

Not sure if I posted already but watched The Passengers and this one has medium to strong 3D for me. One of my favorite all-time movies.

Had it had a few pops, I'd put it as strong 3D as pops is equally key to me as depth and layering. But no pops here.

Watched Nightmare before Xmas. Enjoyed the movie and the 3D. Recommended.

One problem. How can you have 3D animation without loads of pop outs?

Also Hotel Transylvania. Cute movie, lite 3D. They gave this out with 3D tv's not the best example, imo.

Received my 3D copy Tuesday. Watched over two night. I too liked the film and agree 100% with Okiephile on the assesment of the 3D presentation.

Wrong thread for audio, but Santa brought an entry-level 5.1 setup that lets me boost dialog. I’m sure other folks’ systems are way better than this, but nice to not have to keep turning on subs or blasting volume. Will be using on Dune this weekend. (Moderator: I mentioned Dune!! )

I got Dune 3D in the mail yesterday. I first saw it in theaters in 4DX 3D. Looking forward to rewatching it.

I have Hotel Transylvania 3 on the way from Australia but am waiting to find out about what audio options Monster Run has before deciding whether to order that or not.

I can't post links right now, too fiddly on this phone. But they are not hard to find.

HT3 I bought from Sanity.au and I expect to get hammered with customs charges, so the cost is still unknown. Full price + 15 dollar postage.

I did not order Monster Run as it will no doubt only have German subs. You can find it on Amazon.de as Monster Jagd and we have a thread for it too.

Hope you recover from your cataract surgery soon!
