I'm not the best person to ask about technical details with A/V, but I thought The Backlot Murders looked and sounded really good. Very solid presentation.

Now I am only 20 minutes into this commentary and I have learned so much... This is truly a very special extra feature. Things I have learned only 20 minutes in...

- Bill was engaged, but the girl broke it off and kept the ring, and now he's a sad banana.

- Bill has a hair fetish

- Bill belittles and makes fun of pretty much every actor in the movie so far.

- There's some very enlightening commentary by William Olsen, with quotes like "First negro in the movie" the second an African American character appears on screen for the first time...

Boy I am glad I bought this before it gets pulled for the commentary! I can't wait to see what's next.

Okay, I was going to sit this one out it, but that sounds pretty hilarious and just made it jump to the top of my bucket list.

There are some real gems, but I don't want to spoil them. I'll leave the best one in spoiler tags below if anyone wants to know without watching the commentary. Bill goes completely quiet through the last part of the movie and DeFalco keeps trying to get him to say something.

Am I correct based on your comments that the commentary is the only thing of redeeming value regarding this release? Is the movie worth watching at all, or is it a complete piece of crap?

I actually liked the movie, but it is just your standard early 2000's slasher flick. It just depends on what you like. Corey Haim and the rest of the band members acted extremely goofy and had some really cheesy dialogue, which I found to be very entertaining. The standout performance for me was Charles Fleischer as the gay director. I thought he did a fantastic job, and was legitimately funny in parts. I personally like that kind of stuff and thought it was a fun watch. I did not have time to watch the interviews yet.

And of course seeing a lot of the stuff on the Universal backlots throughout the movie definitely makes it fairly unique.

I watched the movie last night and didn't mind it at all. In fact, I think the murder sequences are fairly well done (love the show that's borrowed from Tenebrae), but it's a little overly talky at times.

Not a classic, but fun enough.

And the commentary...man, it's a riot.

SCARECROW GONE WILD

Seriously, I love these movies. They're the 2000s equivalent of cheesy mid-'80s slashers. They're fun to watch, the kills are fine, and the acting isn't too insulting (Tony Todd, Tiffany Shepis and a few other horror icons are sprinkled throughout the trilogy). Basically, these movies know what they are and who their demographic is. I would literally die if someone released them on blu-ray. lol

I've not seen any of these, but the first one has some quality IMDB reviews, including this gem:

I actually own Scarecrow Slayer on dvd. It’s part of those old dvd multi feature packs that has like 8 random DTV films. I remember buying it back when I was buying DVDs and I never got around to watching it all the way through, but I remember it because it had Tony Todd in the film. I think I’ll go dust off that old dvd set and give it a watch lol.

I see you are interested in The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean (1972) and Wasp Woman. I probably wouldn't have those in my collection for free but I still don't feel the need to shoot them down. Some people enjoy those movies and good for them they are getting a release. It doesn't affect me in any way they are getting a release and me putting up a crappy comment wouldn't serve a purpose, just like you putting up a crappy comment doesn't either.

Looking back at your posts, you seem to be a real negative person. I'll leave you to be in your land of negativity. Let me know when you want a certain title released and I can leave a negative comment to return the favour mate. Good luck to you.
