So how much longer is the streaming cut of Last Blood? And is it one of those cases where it’s stronger than the theatrical (I heard mixed things about it.)

…not on StudioCanal’s side of things, no. But although Lionsgate are limited to using the existing 4K transfers of 1-3 there may yet be some tweakery to those masters.

There is a standalone 40th anniversary Steelbook getting released from SC in November across select territories featuring new bonus material (no mention of a new master though)

I love Rambo III. About equally to II actually. I didn't like 4 all that much though, and 5 even less.

I actually like Rambo 4 more than I like First Blood. The first half of part 1 is great but the rest not so much. It's a great film, but 4 is even greater.

I think there's four different cuts at this point, so it's hard to compare, but it is apparently Sly's preferred version, so it's what I'm going with. It's the reason I've not bought any version of Last Blood on disc yet.

I said already that I’m not involved in any way, I’ve just been given the heads-up by someone who is involved. Don’t know if this is a one off or whether Lionsgate will do any other reissues, but - and this is purely my own speculation - if it does well then it’d make sense to look at sweetening other existing titles.

If they redo Kick-Ass I'll be over the moon. That movie needs an all new DI from scratch, I can remember on the director's commentary Matthew Vaughn points out the flaws and says they had issues with it. Especially a lot of dark areas looking blue rather than black.

I remember it well. But I can’t see them redoing a movie’s DI from scratch! Even with this Rambo set there’s going to be tweakage to what’s already there rather than starting over. But if they’re looking for a similar boxset cash-in type situation then Hunger Games would be top of my list, what with the prequel on the way: have another look at the transfers of 1 and 2 - ESPECIALLY 2 with no IMAX sequence on UHD and the bizarre blue blacks in the HDR grade - give them all a Dobly refresh and pull together all the available bonus content inc retailer exclusive guff. I’d buy the shit out of that.
