The movie made so much more sense when I learned that the movie had been given a radically revamped title in English, as the original title reveals and revels in the author's misandry. I'd have had a better opinion of it if I had expected it to not be "Journalist, played by Daniel Craig, solves a mystery involving The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".

Oh, and the film definitely needed to warn a bro about how it contained "Magic Mike" content. In fact, warning bros in advance of that is a central tenet of the Bro Code. David Fincher is guilty of misdemeanor breach of the Bro Code.

Borune-style sort of but nowhere near as competently directed, it just doesn't work for a movie like Snake Eyes. The action in Shang-Chi is what SE should've looked like.

Shang-Chi was framed for 3D, Snake Eyes was not. Properly done 3D conversions are our greatest defense against the Paul Greengrass-aping action sequences. Even 2D viewers benefit from them, win-win

Just about the only decent thing it did was to have a decent Red Herring. Otherwise the mystery underwhelmed, the MC was a Mary Sue, degenerate acts all around, and Daniel Craig's character was not only superfluous but was written as a "damsel in distress" caricature.

Having read the book and seen both film versions, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a perfectly serviceable mystery story with a heavy coat of nihilistic paint on the exterior.

It's fine in all three versions, but the story just gets increasingly uninteresting into the rest of the original trilogy.

Agreed. I was fine with the first book, but hated 2 & 3. Should've quit, but I couldn't leave a book unread.

Yeah, I really like it too!

I like the whole vibe and atmosphere Fincher creates in that film. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' score also adds a lot to it in my opinion.
