i am curious on the dynaudio speakers and would like to demo them, but not ready to drop $5K for a new system.
Well like you I like to audition stuff to see what is out there. Yeah, $5k for a system is steep, that is why I went with the larger bookshelfs. The fronts will cost me about $2500 and then I think I might just get either Dali Lektor 2s or Focal 705Vs if I cannot afford the Dynaudio DM 2/6s for surrounds. OR else Ill just get another pair of Energys for the back... we'll see... I have Missions now which are decent actually, but a little small for my space and slightly too laidback, but they do well enough, I won't complain as they were free.

Have fun auditioning. Let me know what you think.

Well thet are Bi-Amplified speakers already i mean it,s not made for HT use, It's actual true studio Monitors that are used to connect to a computer.

Now you could use your computer 7.1 analog out and connect 3 pairs of those to your PC. Look into the DM series Ryan DM 2/7. 1K a pair

they could.... I think, but they are mainly for Near Field listening for a small professional studio. Not really suited to HT.

I think you would be better off with these if you want them for mains.

I went to see my dealer yesterday, a guy was trading in his more expensive Focals for the DM 2/6s, He said the DMs were overall just better speakers, more musical, equally dynamic, and the Focals were bright sounding, the Dyns he said was more neutral and gentler on the ears with better seperation and detail. He was using them for HT and Music. I got to hear the Focals for a few minutes while they tested them out and put them thru their paces, they were nice, but they didn't compare to the Focus 110As that I heard before and after that.

If that is what you are going for, you won't be disappointed.

can use the DM 2/7s also. I just saw those 2/8s were on sale for less then the 2/7s so I figured the best bang for the buck.

Why not just realized that, makes alot of sense I think it's well worth the extra 100$ over the DM 2/6 as they have even better bass response.

hey, my 7" woofer rocks...... AND those DM 2/8s have the 75mm voice coil, mine have a 1.5" voice coil, so there is less slam, BUT my voice coil is longer then most to improve dynamics, plus has a double magnet system to ensure that the voice coil moves back and forth precisely even at higher volume levels. I also have a better more recent Esotec Tweeter, so there is more resolution of detail and there is better crossovers that help with the transients. I spoke long and hard with Mick from Dynaudio USA about the differences between the lines. The Focus line is similar to that of the Excites, they use the same tweeter (except the 360 uses an Esotar2 tweeter and a different crossover, hence the vast increase in price), and the Focus has improved woofers with the 75mm Voice Coil and a crossover that is designed for use with that woofer. Altho he did say the crossover is similar to the crossover in the Excites tho.

However talking with my dealer yesterday about the DM 2/6s, he said they actually sounded a lot better then he expected them to.

Huge 10 inch driver would give you great slam down below but they don't extend much below 50hz but imagine the slam around the 55-60hz

I have not heard them but I would stick to DM 2/8 or DM 2/7 2/8 are on speacial and discontinued, Look Ryan Were you not trying to get some money from selling those Dali Ikon?

Now you consider the Focus wow those are not cheap.

X32 are plenty loud, not sure it's worth getting the X36 but if that's what you want, Keep in mind they are 3.6K vs 2.8K for the X32 and they did not get the same great reviews as their smaller brothers like the X12 or X16. X32 was awesome tho.

The Excites are a really good line, I love my X16s, I don't have the center channel yet, but the imaging and detail, depth resolution and everything is phenominal, and Im still just using the Sony receiver. With proper power the Excites have very dynamic and smooth on the top end, however they will adapt to whatever components you are using on them.

I have heard the X36, its a very good speaker, but I have read several reviews that its probably not the best speaker in the Excite line. Even my dealer said the X36 has more output and slam, but he likes the X32 the best of the Excites and the X16s are his next favorite.

I have not heard the DM series, my dealer doesn't stock them, but reviews of the DMs and talking with my dealer and the guy yesterday who had just bought them they have a good reputation. I think the DM 2/10s you would find to be a very good speaker, esp at that price.
