They told me it was in the queue.

The Velvet Queen, and The Tale of King Crab dated for January 24th according to Deep Discount. Stanleyville also up for pre-order at Oscilloscope (but not DD) so presumably the same date. I missed Velvet Queen in theater, and heard it was great, so I'm looking forward to seeing it.

In the heart of the Tibetan highlands, multi-award-winning nature photographer Vincent Munier guides writer Sylvain Tesson on his quest to document the infamously elusive snow leopard. Munier introduces Tesson to the subtle art of waiting from a blind spot, tracking animals, and finding the patience to catch sight of the beasts. Through their journey in the Tibetan peaks, inhabited by invisible presences, the two men ponder humankind’s place amongst the magnificent creatures and glorious landscapes they encounter along the way.

Special Features:
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • Two films from directors Alessio Rigo de Righi and Matteo Zoppis, which together with The Tale of King Crab complete the filmmakers storytelling trilogy: Belva Nera (2013), 32 minutes and Il Solengo (2015), 70 minutes

Luciano is a wandering outcast in a remote, late 19th-century Italian village. His life becomes undone by alcohol, forbidden love, and a bitter conflict with the prince of the region over the right of passage through an ancient gateway. When the quarrel escalates, Luciano is exiled to the distant Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego where, with the help of ruthless gold-diggers, he searches for a mythical treasure, paving his way toward redemption. However, in these barren lands, only greed and insanity can prevail.

From today's email, Oscilloscope has picked up Joyland, which was a huge hit at Cannes and is shortlisted for the Foreign Language Oscar this year. Awesome pickup and can't wait to order it:

Oscilloscope just posted a trailer for "Moon Garden" on their YouTube page. Looks absolutely brilliant. I simply cannot wait to see it, and will check it out in theaters if we happen to get it around here.

Anyone been getting their movies shipped being part of the Circle of Trust? I haven't gotten a single blu-ray yet and I subscribed maybe right after short bus was released.

Or is this something you gotta email them every time a new release is approaching?

It's automatic. Only 1 movie has been released since Shortbus (The Velvet Queen) and the release date was only a couple weeks ago, so maybe they're running a bit behind (plus there's a new person in charge of CoT). The other 2 releases dated for January 2023 seem to be a bit delayed.

I'm gonna wait another month or so before asking.

Ah makes sense. I saw that there were a few January releases so I thought I may have missed out or didn't "elect" for the new ones.

I hope Claydream is included with the subscription. I have 2 titles left (after Poser shipped today.)

I think I'll rejoin the CoT again. I liked all the titles that had been released.

Guess I'll have to wait for a review. I hope the limited edition doesn't sell out fast like Shortbus

I just looked at the starts of all the shorts, Martin the Cobbler seems to be from an SD source, but the rest all look to be HD, though a few like Rip Van Winkle and The Christmas Gift look a little softer than the others, whether that's because of the quality of the film or because they're from older scans I don't know.

I emailed them about this and I was told the shorts were rescanned. If anything is SD then that's all they had access to.

Good eye. HD source like the others, but softness for those two is down to them being improperly encoded as SD on the disc.... and SD anamorphic as if their HD 1920x1080 widescreen input needed to be preserved (4:3 content is actually 536x480)

Every short looks like a new scan except for Martin (SD upscale to 1080i, and incorrect aspect ratio to boot, seems they treated 720x480 input as square pixels). I posted a user review addressing the QC screwups, otherwise the pristine content looks... otherwise pristine.
