But Nintendo Land isn't the only thing shown. We've seen Assassin's Creed III, we've seen Tekken Tag Tournament 2, we've seen Black Ops II, and we know Bayonetta 2 is coming. No doubt more will follow.

The hardcore games are there, yet all people see is this kiddy image. It seems Nintendo just can't win with some people.

True that. GameCube had lots of teen and adult oriented games, yet fanboys stuck a 'kids' stereotype on the system before it even came out, conveniently ignoring all the games that it had planned. I even saw one guy contradict himself like so, in reference to Resident Evil Remake "Great horror game; too bad it's on a system for toddlers." Um, guess what: if a system has many Resident Evil games along with a Metal Gear Solid and Eternal Darkness, it ain't all for toddlers!

There's also another simple fact. Mario and Zelda titles aren't "Kids" games. They're ALL AGES games. And there's Smash Bros. No way it's a kids game; it's rated Teen.

The question is whether they'll sell. And if the answer is no my guess is we won't see many companies continue to port these types of games to the Wii U. The handful of hardcore games (some very good ones) developers did put out on the Wii sold horribly while shovelware like Carnival Games sold over a million copies. Hope I'm proven wrong but I'd be shocked if the Wii U doesn't go down the exact same path as the Wii with store shelves for the console being composed of about 85% kiddie shovelware, 10% first party Nintendo games and 5% tops good quality 3rd party games.

Nintendo didn't go down the kiddie game path until the Wii. Biggest reason is Nintendo made very high quality consoles (graphically) from the NES right up through the GameCube. Heck, GameCube was better graphically than the PS2 and I believe only slightly behind the original X-Box. It was with the Wii that Nintendo switched their focus from powerful hardware to weaker hardware with gimmicks like motion controls. Why would any core gamers expect the Wii U will cater at all to them when Nintendo is essentially keeping the same console name as their prior one, keeping and expanding those ridiculous looking Mii's, resorting to more gimmicks rather than quality hardware and showing somewhat tepid support for online gaming?

Most of the frustrations you're hearing re: Bayonetta 2 are coming from fans of the series because of the fact that they will be unable to play the second game on the same platform as the first (a platform which they have their reasons for preferring).
Bayonetta 2 is the only Wii U game I'm interested in to date. Were I to buy a Wii U, I would then be "pissed" that I would be unable to play the plethora of Xbox/PS3-only games.

With any exclusives, the only people who lose are the gamers.

I think the problem is that much of the outcry is wrongly directed at Nintendo. Fact is Sega seemingly wanted nothing to do with the sequel so Nintendo picked it up. Who knows if the game would have even been made if it wasn't on the Wii U.

Bit of info for those wanting to pre-order from Game Stop. I went to pre-order today and was told that they are almost 99% sure that either tonight or tomorrow that their allotment of the 32gig for pre-order will be gone. Apparently the 32 gig has pre-sold more than anyone thought would happen. (Just $25 down for Power Up members, so maybe that's why).
They said the regular will still be available though. So in case you wanted to pre-order the 32gig... might want to check into it today.

The first mistake would be pre-ordering from that place to begin with. It's well known that GameStop has a habit of badly overselling their pre-order inventory. Why anyone still shops at that store blows my mind considering the stuff they pull on consumers. For crying out loud, they sell opened games as "new."

Oh yes... multiple times. His rants are the best and I believe every detail as one of my best friends worked at one of those stores for awhile and told me similar horror stories. Probably been 3+ years since I bought anything at a GameStop. The selling opened games as "new" by gutting them was the final straw for me.

Gamers aren't losing, just fools who practice brand loyalty. I am not loyal to one company, so I have no reason to be upset by this.

Plus, it sounds like Nintendo is the reason we are getting a Bayonetta 2 at all.

Oddly enough I actually had a 3D0 as a kid. It was the only console not made by Nintendo, Sega or Sony I owned as a kid. I actually enjoyed the system too. Wish I'd held onto it.

Back then many stores made sure to have multiple consoles around for the kids to occupy themselves. Only one store had the 3D0 to play and almost every Saturday I would be there playing it.

Just in case anyone thinks I'm Anti Nintendo I have every system in my household including the 3ds. 'm just saying there is nothing hardcore there for me. I learned my lesson with buying things at launch with my Kinect.
